Clothes can act like medicine too. It is enough that they are made of fabrics with healing properties, e.g. antibacterial cotton. Anti-varicose tights, socks against athlete's foot, antibacterial cotton bedding, intelligent materials such as lycra, coolmax, goretex, polartec - you can take care of your he alth … by surrounding yourself with appropriate fabrics.

Although it is hard to believe, the type offabricyour pajamas are made of can affect your blood pressure, body temperature, and whether you wake up in the morning well-rested and in a good mood. This action was proven by, among others scientists of the Institute of Textile Plants in Poznań. In 2003, together with Japanese scientists, they tested variousfabricson volunteers. The participants of the experiment spent the night wearing pajamas made of natural and synthetic fibers, and in the morning they had their blood tested and their blood pressure measured. A hit among he althy materials turned out to be silk, which does not pick up static and provides the skin with good ventilation. Right after silk, there is flax, also beneficial for he alth and well-being. Unfortunately, both silk and linen also have disadvantages - they are not suitable for wearing in all conditions, they crumple and quickly absorb sweat. Hence the constant search for a fabric that will not only ensure well-being, but also prevent he alth problems. In addition, it will provide the user with maximum comfort on a daily basis.

How to buy wisely

If you want to buy really he althy clothes or bedding, it's best to go to a store that offers branded products (never buy in a bazaar or on the street). Thanks to this, you will avoid the risk of paying a large amount for a counterfeit product. In the store, ask the seller for detailed information on how to wash a specific fabric - at what temperature and detergents. Follow these rules rigorously and the fabric will not lose its valuable properties. Some materials, e.g. biostatic cotton, should be washed with special preparations that guarantee good quality for many years.

Healing fabrics: antibacterial cotton

It is an invention of Polish scientists inspired by the Americans - precursors of the production of biostatic fabrics (with antibacterial properties). The technology was developed in the USAthe production of such fabrics from synthetic materials. Poles, on the other hand, developed the production of biostatic fabric from natural fiber. Its greatest advantage is that it minimizes the risk of pathogenic bacteria, including the dangerous ones: staphylococcus aureus and pneumoniae. In order to eliminate the harmful effects of microorganisms, microscopic silver particles (nanoparticles) were used. Their carrier is silica - he althy and safe for humans. Silver used in the form of nanoparticles does not sensitize, does not irritate the skin, and has no toxic properties. Metal particles do not get from the fabric to the skin. In addition to its most important action of fighting bacteria, the biostatic fabric has other advantages:

  • prevents the development of house dust mites; Although they do not die completely, but their number does not increase, and it is these microscopic arachnids, which feed on human epidermis, are a very common cause of allergic symptoms, e.g. dyspnoea, rhinitis, conjunctivitis;
  • promotes the treatment of skin lesions, incl. atopic dermatitis; regular sleep in biostatic beddingcottonreduces inflammation and improves skin condition;
  • does not absorb odors such as sweat; this is especially important not only in the case of bedding, but also sports shoes (the biostatic cotton lining makes the shoes smell fresh even after long wear or repeated training);
  • does not pick up static; the high potential of electric charges (especially positive ones) increases our irritability and promotes states of chronic fatigue.

In stores you can buy not only linen made of biostatic cotton and sports shoes with special padding, but also towels, tracksuits and T-shirts for sports activities. Some diapers also contain biostatic fibers. An interesting fact for owners of domestic pets are also … biostatic beds for dogs and cats.

Important

The label will tell you the truth

There are signs on the labels of modern fabrics that you need to know to make a good choice:

  • breathing rate RET - shows how effectively a given fabric wicks moisture away; the lower the RET, the better; fabrics for clothes for cycling should have a RET not greater than 130, and preferably about 60;
  • weight - weight of 1 square meter of fabric; the smaller the better, because it proves that the fabric is light;
  • watertightness - it is usually measured in mm of a water column that will be pressed for 1 hourfabric getting wet;
  • thermal comfort - with some clothes you can find information to what outside temperature the clothes keep at 20 ° C against the body; this is extremely important for wetsuits for windsurfing and divers.

Healing fabrics: clothes … almost like medicine

Appropriate clothing can also prevent problems related to improper blood circulation, susceptibility to skin infections, cellulite, rheumatic diseases and diabetes. There is a wide selection of them in stores, some of them can be bought online.

  • Antibacterial panties for intimate infections

Exceptional hygiene is ensured by a wedge made of a material that repels bacteria that contribute to inflammation. An additional advantage of such underwear is that it does not absorb odors. Manufacturers ensure that this property lasts up to 30 washes.

  • Firming anti-cellulite leggings

The material from which they are sewn contains silicon particles, which in contact with warm skin is released, smoothing and firming it. The addition of copper has an antibacterial effect, and zinc helps moisturize the skin. The anti-cellulite leggings also have microscopic folds that gently massage your thighs, stomach and buttocks when you move.

  • Mycosis socks and insoles

Antifungal preparations are added to them, preventing the development of saprophytes that most often attack our feet. This preparation works even after repeated washing of socks or insoles.

  • Diabetic socks

They contain the addition of Lycra, they are recommended for those people suffering from diabetes who have problems with the so-called diabetic foot. Such socks stimulate blood circulation in the feet, thanks to which the skin is better nourished and more resistant to abrasions or burns.

  • Underwear and blouses not only for rheumatism

T-shirts are made of thermoactive fabric that absorbs sweat and releases it outside. Such underwear is dry all the time, thanks to which the body does not cool down even for a moment, which could aggravate the discomfort. The fabric is pleasant to the touch and gently massages the skin. The thermo-active fabric is also used to sew panties and blouses, as well as special kidney warmers for people suffering from inflammation of the urinary tract and radiculitis.

  • Anti-varicose tights

Their action is based on the gradual compression of the legs - they compress the leg at the bottom of the calf the most, and the higher, the weaker (the weakest in the thighs). This massage makes it easier to pump blood up towards the heart. According to expertswell-chosen tights are more effective in preventing varicose veins than pharmacological agents. They are bought on prescription at a pharmacy. After measuring the circumference of the calves, hips and thighs, the doctor records the appropriate size. On warmer days, instead of tights, you can wear anti-varicose knee socks (also buy them only at a pharmacy). There are also tights with cooling oils, e.g. mint, which help to prevent the feeling of heavy legs.

  • Airy outfits for active people

You can now buy underwear that absorbs sweat, but immediately evaporates it outside. This means that even during a lot of effort, e.g. cycling or jogging, the underwear always remains dry against the skin, so you do not run the risk of catching a cold. It is also worth using during mountain trips.

Fabrics: intelligent fibers for active and non-fatigued people

You know most of them and you even wear them every day (Lycra, fleece). What are and what are the characteristic features of the fabric that conquered the world?

  • Lycra - a fiber made of block polyurethane. It can increase its length five times without the risk of breaking and immediately return to its previous size. Lycra is blended with cotton, nylon and other fibers. Fabrics containing it tightly fit the body, gently massaging it. This way, they improve blood circulation, making us warmer.
  • Coolmax - polyester fiber with a cross-section composed of four circles with narrowings between them. Such a structure of the fiber makes the fabrics made of Coolmax perfectly breathable. Their he alth benefits include providing the skin with breathing and very good protection against harmful UV radiation.
  • Rhovyl’on, Rhovyl’as - a fabric made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride) fibers not only provides high air permeability, but is also able to retain heat. Chemical compounds with bactericidal properties have also been introduced into the structure of the fibers. The fabric is often used to make antibacterial insoles in shorts and socks.
  • Polartec - polyester knit, which is smooth on the body side and "raised" on the outside. Thanks to this structure, it easily removes moisture from the surface of the garment and warms it at the same time. Clothes made of polartec are therefore perfect for those who lead an active lifestyle and do not shy away from a lot of effort. Even if you sweat a lot, your clothes still stay dry.
  • GoreTex - a type of fabric made of Teflon derivative - a material very resistant to various destructive factors (light, moisture, acidic environment). A feature of goretex fibers is that they sweatand water vapor are discharged to the outside, and moisture and wind cannot penetrate inside. The fabrics with such properties are used mainly for making tourist jackets and sweatshirts.
  • Fleece - knitted fabric made of polyester fiber, extremely light and durable, water repellent. It is perfect for sewing sweatshirts worn over thermoactive underwear, because it does not retain sweat and pass it on, but it retains heat. The extraordinary lightness of the fleece and its other advantages made it almost completely supplant the thick woolen sweaters that were worn until recently during mountain expeditions, trips or walks in the woods.

Fabrics: blockbusters of the future straight from the laboratory

Scientists in laboratories around the world are working on projects that can make our lives easier (and more enjoyable). Here are some examples of clothes that will probably conquer the world in the near future:

  • Frozen Smoke Jacket

This is the name of airgel, which is the lightest material in the world, which in 98 percent. it consists of air. In such a jacket, we will not get cold in the most cold weather, and we will not even feel that we are wearing it. The first such jackets were tested during expeditions to Antarctica.

  • Titanium undershirt

The fabric includes, among others, titanium fibers. The T-shirt made of it takes the shape of the body of the person wearing it. Nay! He can also roll up his sleeves himself when it's too hot.

  • Luminex top

Suitable e.g. for a party. Its fibers contain mini-optical fibers connected to a tiny battery. When we turn it on, our clothes glow in the dark.

  • T-shirt - tester

Can flawlessly control breathing, heart rate and body temperature. This is possible because the fibers of the fabric conduct electricity and emit heat. If our he alth condition suddenly worsens, the information about it is immediately transferred to the mobile phone of the owner and the attending physician.

  • Massage shoes

Made of antibacterial materials. Their advantage is also that while walking, they massage the feet, pressing points on the soles, which are stimulated in acupressure in order to add energy and improve mood.
