Bathing in naturally mineralized hot water has a soothing effect on the body, and also supports the treatment of numerous diseases. But where to find hot water? The closest - in Slovakia.
The thermal baths described below are definitely recreational. By the way, however, they fulfill therapeutic functions. And this is both through the action of the minerals dissolved in the water and through relaxation itself. Because there is nothing more fun than swimming in a hot, outdoor pool, when you can see the peaks of the mountains in the distance.
Slovaks have been using their rich geothermal water deposits for healing purposes for years, and recently - more and more intensively - for fun and entertainment. Opened only last year on the edge of the Western Tatras at the foot of the picturesque Osobita peak (1686 m above sea level). Natural geothermal water flows from a depth of 161 m, and then it is cooled to a temperature of 28-38 degrees C. It is situated on the edge of Liptovský Mikuláš and is the largest water amusement park in Slovakia. The water park is located in the capital of the Slovakian Tatra Mountains. Geothermal waters with a temperature of 50 degrees are extracted from a depth of 1400 meters. For the needs of the park, they are cooled down to the temperature of 36-38 degrees C. They are naturally enriched with calcium, magnesium, carbon dioxide and soda. therapeutic effect on the nervous and circulatory systems, support the treatment of joint pain. It is worth taking a stroll around the historic town, visiting picturesque Spiš villages, huge ruins of the medieval Spiš Castle. And you must go for a walk through the Tatra valleys, and more experienced tourists - even to climb the peaks. You just have to remember that the Tatra Mountains on the Slovak side are much wider than on ours. It's not so easy to run to the top and come back before nightfall. it requires quite a bit of shape. For hiking, I recommend the Slovak Paradise: ladders, chains, metal platforms, on which we walk glued to the vertical wall by the rushing river. Everything for tourists. But for those more agile and bolder.
And if you don't want to go to the mountains, you can go to Tatranska Lomnica, Štrbské Pleso or Smokovec. Ski in winter, sightseeing in summer. The climate of the resorts near Tatra Mountains is worth a day trip.

Thermal park Bešeňová
We have known good old Bešeňová for years. But maybe not everyone knows its new face. Because Bešeňová competed with modern water parks, which were developed in the vicinity. Only the Thermal hotel with its pools is left of the former bathing area. The formerly modest public part is currently being rebuilt into a modern center. More swimming pools, an indoor slide, water jets, bubbles, jacuzzi, vital world with a solarium, massages and a fitness club. New restaurants, a "wet bar" and other hotel spaces are opening. You can stay overnight in the Fontanna hotel, or look for accommodation or guesthouses in the area (there are up to 2,000 places)
