I just started taking care of a 7-year-old boy. He went to school as a 6-year-old, even though he was not ready for it. The boy does not want to stay in 1st grade, so the speech therapist advised to teach him during the holiday period. I try to teach him, but he gets bored quickly and prefers to watch cartoons, doesn't want to cooperate. How to encourage him, how to teach?
A child of seven does not yet understand the fact that he has to learn something. The only way to reach him and encourage him to be active is through play. Currently, there is a lot of speech therapy and pedagogical aids on the market, which they practice and have fun at the same time. You can also use games and activities on mobile devices. You should also remember about the breaks necessary during such exercises, because children do not yet have a high level of concentration and they simply get bored quickly. So a short game or fun for 10-15 minutes, then a quarter of an hour break and then playing again. What substantive material should be included in them should be defined by the pedagogue or speech therapist who permanently conducts the boy's therapy.
