I've had some strange attack today, the cause of which I just can't find. I am 22 years old and generally he althy (I only have a slight allergy to hair, but due to limited contact with pets, it has not caused any symptoms for years, and a shifted circadian rhythm with which I am able to deal with melatonin quite well). Today, when I was sitting quietly at the computer, I suddenly ran out of air. I didn't feel any problems in my lungs, throat or breasts, it was a bit as if the air suddenly ran out of oxygen. My hands, feet, face, knees started to feel numb and hurt, the veins under my eyes were pulsating, I was suffocating in general and everything felt as if I was "shaking" inside. My heart was beating very fast, I could see poorly (everything at a distance of more than 3 meters was blurry) and I felt a little light-headed. My mother noticed that my forehead was completely cold and then suddenly hot. It was short, about 15 minutes, before the ambulance arrived everything was fine. The ambulance doctors checked my blood pressure and something else (I had a little clip on the cable attached to my finger) and said that better results could not be obtained (even though I felt like after a marathon and I was still swaying on my feet). They also said the attack was nervous, whatever that meant to me. I didn't feel very scared at all, in general I was thinking quite clearly all the time. My hands were trembling and trembling for a while and I was generally sleepy and weak, now it's basically okay. Maybe my left hand is still a bit numb. I want to know what actually happened and if there is nothing wrong with it, but I don't even know which doctor to see. I don't smoke, I don't drink. I drink a lot of caffeinated drinks, but only a little cola for the last few days, maybe 0.5-1.5 small glasses a day in the morning (or is it a lot?). I am slim, I lead a sedentary lifestyle. I have - since always - a shifted circadian rhythm, diagnosed some 2 years ago. I have been taking melatonin fairly regularly since then, 5 mg at bedtime, and never had any trouble with it. Generally, I don't get a bit of sleep, but I have been well asleep in the last few days. I will be grateful for your answer.
A binding answer to the question about the cause that caused the ailments can, of course, be given by a doctor after examining theoffice.
From the reasons mentioned in the description, it is worth paying attention to caffeinated drinks, which, in the face of such ailments, I would advise you to completely discontinue it. It is also worth giving up Coca-Cola. It does not matter how we evaluate the amount of drinks drunk on the basis of the volume or a comparison to other fluids consumed, but what matters is how the body reacts at a given moment to the substances contained in such drinks. The volume amounts may be small, and the reaction is quite unpleasant to feel - there are hypersensitivity reactions and perhaps this kind of reaction contributed to the symptoms described.
The nervous factor as an additional cause of the described symptoms is quite likely. I would like to point out that the nervous factor often appears "without a reason". Fear as such is irrational when viewed in a rational way, but it accompanies a person in very different circumstances - some are easy to explain, others are deeper hidden.
You don't very clearly describe what this "shifted circadian rhythm" is - as I suspect, you just go to bed too late. If this is the case, I strongly advise you to make sure that you are asleep around 23:00.
Giving up these drinks should help. It is also worth leading a slightly calmer lifestyle after 6 p.m. Taking care of the correct circadian rhythm is important in the long-term view of he alth and good condition.
