I'm 31 years old and 16 weeks pregnant. During my first visit to the doctor, I was asked a question about genetic diseases in my family. Unfortunately, I was not able to answer this question exactly, due to the fact that I do not know my father and his family. Is such incomplete information an indication for prenatal testing? From my attending physician, I got a short answer that this is not an indication for these tests and will not refer me to such tests. I admit that it worries me a lot. Please reply.
The fact that you do not know the interview concerning some of your family members is not, as your doctor said, an indication for prenatal testing. However, an indication for these tests may be your fear of giving birth to a child with the defect. I advise you to consult the Genetic Clinic.
