A few years ago I had a strange event … At school my head started to ache. After a few minutes I noticed that I did not feel the left side of my body (it was a temporary paresis), I could stick pins and feel nothing …. during my visit to the nurse, it turned out that my blood pressure was 140/100. Then I had a very bad headache…. I was referred to the hospital after a few tests and doctors decided that it was nothing serious and I was discharged at my own request … for over a week my blood pressure remained at the level of 135/100 120/90 then my blood pressure normalized and I stopped regular tests … from time to time they feel strange chest pain…. Today I am about 162 cm tall and weighing about 58 kg … Can that event be a harbinger of any more serious problems in the future? I will add that my father is treated for hypertension.
Hello, the pressure measurements quoted by you are incorrect and for this reason you should remain under the constant care of your family doctor and systematically write down your home measurements in a special notebook. You should be on a sodium restricted diet. The most s alt is contained in cold cuts, cheese, bread (baguettes), stock cubes - these products should be avoided. Vegetables, fruits, dairy products, and dark bread are recommended. The decision whether you require continuous administration of tablets can be made by your doctor after examining you and familiarizing yourself with home blood pressure measurements. Untreated high blood pressure has a negative effect on the heart, brain and kidneys. Adverse effects on these internal organs manifest themselves in an increased risk of coronary heart disease, heart attack, kidney failure or stroke - complications of course occur after many years of untreated high blood pressure. So it is much better to check and prevent in advance. Best regards, Dr. Krystyna Knypl, MD, PhD
