Hello Professor, I have the following question. A year ago I had a bad cold, I couldn't get rid of my runny nose, so I went to the ENT specialist. After an X-ray of my sinuses, I found a cyst in my sinuses. The doctor recommended surgery to remove the cyst. Unfortunately, I have been living in Ireland for 2 years, so in order to be able to take advantage of the private insurance that I have taken out, my condition must be detected on the spot and diagnosed as new. To this end, I went to the general practitioner, complaining of sinus problems. The doctor sent me for an x-ray and I just found out the result was okay. It surprised me a lot. Could it be that the cyst just disappeared like that? I can feel the discharge from my sinuses all the time, and I can feel a headache when I bend over. The symptoms are exactly the same as a year ago when the cyst was detected by a doctor in Poland. Thanks in advance for your answer

Ladies and Gentlemen, you raise a very interesting topic. Often the inflammatory lesion in the sinus is described by the radiologist as a cyst and this may be the reason for its disappearance. It is also possible that the cyst (cyst) has ruptured and emptied itself, which does not mean that it will not fill with fluid again and will become visible on x-ray after a while. It is worth mentioning here that the presence of a cyst in the sinus is usually asymptomatic. Hence my question, is your ailments really related to the cyst or is there any other sinus problem. In my practice, I no longer use a radiographic image, because it is a 19th-century examination. The basis for the diagnosis of paranasal sinus diseases are the results of endoscopic examination of the paranasal sinuses, and in justified cases, a CT scan of the sinuses. Regards, Prof. A. Chairs
