My mother looks after her mother-in-law. She wanted to buy her a specialized anti-bedsore bed because her grandmother is a recumbent. Is a bed refund due for an elderly person? Are people registered in the apartment taken into account when calculating the income per one family member, despite the fact that they support and settle accounts on their own? Does this amount include their income?
Yes, you can apply for a refund for the purchase of an anti-bedsore mattress and pillow. The legislator does not use the concept of an anti-bedsore bed, therefore only a mattress and a pillow are included in the purchase of rehabilitation equipment subject to reimbursement. The bed structure itself, on the other hand, is the subject of your own purchase.
When analyzing the issue of reimbursement, household income and the number of registered persons are not taken into account. Indications for the purchase of an anti-bedsore mattress or an anti-bedsore pillow may be made by a doctor with the 1st degree specialization in orthopedics and traumatology or a specialist in orthopedic surgery, or orthopedic surgery, orthopedics and traumatology, or orthopedics and traumatology of the musculoskeletal system, surgeon, rheumatology specialist, a doctor with 1st degree specialization in medical rehabilitation or a specialist in general rehabilitation or medical rehabilitation. The order issued by the doctor for the supply of medical devices, which are orthopedic devices and auxiliary devices, must be confirmed (stamped) with the National He alth Fund belonging to the beneficiary's place of residence.
If it meets the conditions, the anti-bedsore equipment can be obtained even with a 100% refund. When purchasing rehabilitation and treatment or anti-bedsore products, you can receive funding from the National He alth Fund and PFRON (National Fund for Rehabilitation of Disabled Persons) under certain conditions. You can get: once every 3 years an anti-bedsore mattress. Price limit of PLN 550, including 30% of own contribution; an anti-bedsore cushion once every 2 years. Price limit of PLN 100, including 30% of own contribution.
Pursuant to Art. 45.1 of the Act on cash benefits from social insurance financed from public funds, persons who are: war invalids, military invalids or repressed persons are en titled to a subsidy of 100% of the limit valuegranted by the National He alth Fund for the above items.
Legal basis: Act of 27 August 2004 on he alth care services financed from public funds (Journal of Laws of 2008, No. 164, item 1028, as amended)
