I am 47 years old, since December 26 I had 4 bleeds with short intervals, before the bleeding I had a 5-month break in regular periods, currently I am not bleeding, but I have slight brown spots. Examination at the gynecologist and ultrasound calmed me down a bit, but the description reads: Endometrium 16 mm heterogeneous. I can't read the word "hyperechopenne". I was referred for curettage, is it cancerous? Are there any other treatments?
The description of the ultrasound indicates the need for verification by histopathological examination - the curettage of the canal and the uterine cavity should be performed. After 3 weeks from the surgery, the result will be obtained and then the doctor will be able to suggest possible further treatment. There is no other way to examine the contents of the uterine cavity than by the procedure.
Hysteroscopy is a similar procedure. Then, in addition to curettage, a camera is inserted into the uterine cavity before curettage and the inside of the uterus can be viewed. Usually, such a procedure is recommended when polyps in the uterine cavity are suspected, but it can also be performed in your case. The purpose of the examination is to clearly assess what changes caused such an ultrasound image of the endometrium.
