The question concerns the reimbursement of a complete denture for a person who has significantly lost weight (30 kg) as a result of cancer. In this situation, does the 5-year prosthesis change period also apply? What the record means: 2) Supplying the toothless jaw with complete dentures in the mandible / maxilla with taking a functional impression on an individual tray once every 5 years (the restriction does not apply to people after surgical removal of tumors). What kind of tumors? What if the cancer is inoperable? NFZ Poznań informed that there is no provision that allows for reimbursement in the period earlier than 5 years.
In my opinion, the reimbursement of dentures should be much more frequent in the case of tumors located in the craniofacial area. It is worth contacting the NHF branch and the dentist's office in this matter.
The legislator does not specify the concept of cancer in the text of the regulation, but only indicates their place of occurrence. Thus, the situation will apply to cancer patients who have neoplastic problems in the craniofacial area. It can be both operable and inoperable.
A patient applying for a dental prosthesis reimbursement must know that, in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of He alth of November 6, 2013, on guaranteed benefits in the field of dental treatment, he can contact a dentist who has signed a contract with the National He alth Fund for performance of dental services, including: 1) Supplementing missing teeth with a partial denture, including simple buckles for 5-8 missing teeth. The service includes supplementation with a removable partial acrylic denture with the use of bent-on elements to maintain or support in the number according to individual indications 1 time in 5 years in the range of 5-8 missing teeth in 1 dental arch (the restriction does not apply to people after surgical removal of tumors in the craniofacial area) . Completion of missing teeth with a partial denture, including simple bent clamps in the range of more than 8 teeth. The service includes supplementation with a removable partial acrylic denture with the use of bent-over elements to maintain or support in the number according to the indicationsindividual 1 time in 5 years in the range of more than 8 missing teeth in 1 dental arch (the restriction does not apply to people after surgical removal of craniofacial neoplasms).
Legal basis: Regulation of the Minister of He alth on guaranteed services in the field of dental treatment (Journal of Laws of 2009 No. 140 item 1144 as amended)
