NO, the doctor cannot refuse to administer the painkiller. The person providing care during childbirth provides the mother with full information about non-pharmacological and pharmacological methods of relieving labor pains available in the place where the childbirth takes place, supports the mother in the use of these methods and respects her decisions in this regard. The person providing care during childbirth is obliged to: 1) suggest moving the mother during the first stage of labor and adopting such positions, including vertical positions, which are comfortable for her, bring her pain relief and enable her to supervise the condition of the fetus; 2) support the woman in labor in the selection and application of breathing and relaxation techniques during labor; 3) encourage the woman in labor to choose a massage technique; 4) encourage the use of water immersion and relaxation in water as a means of pain relief; 5) encourage the woman in labor to be accompanied by a loved one during childbirth. The birth plan covers all aspects of the medical management of labor and the place of delivery. The antenatal care plan and the delivery plan may be modified according to the he alth situation of the pregnant woman during care.
