I have a very serious problem and I am asking for help. I am currently in the 24th week of pregnancy (date of the last menstruation on March 21, 2008, or the date of conception between April 1, 2008, and the date of delivery scheduled for December 26, 2008). I had ultrasound, including genetic ultrasound. I would like to ask if the ultrasound of August 21, 2008 showed that the child is developed at 21 weeks and 6 days (I give the following data: BPD 5.30 cm, HC 19.56 cm, AC 17.21 cm, FL 3.86 cm; fetal weight 489 g), then is it even possible that I could get pregnant a month earlier (then the date of the last menstruation would be 02/24/2008, possible conception on 05/03/2008)? It seems impossible to me given the facts and the fact that I had my last period in March, but I need to make sure.
On the basis of only one ultrasound examination, and it was performed in the 24th week of pregnancy, nothing can be said about the age of pregnancy. If there is a difference like yours, the following reasons are possible: pregnancy is 3 weeks younger, the baby is slightly smaller than it results from the date of the last menstruation. At week 24, the difference can be + - 2 weeks, so the dimensions of the baby are almost within the normal range. For the assessment of the pregnancy age, only the ultrasound examination performed at the beginning of pregnancy is reliable.
