Herbs for cystitis are effective in treating cystitis - a condition that mainly affects women due to its anatomical structure. It is also worth supporting the treatment recommended by the doctor with them. Unpleasant ailments from the urinary system will help reduce: field horsetail, goldenrod, bearberry, common juniper, parsley or lovage. However, it is important to know how to use herbs for cystitis so that they help, not harm.

Herbs for cystitiscan support drug treatment and alleviate unpleasant symptoms. When treating urinary problems, you need to drink a lot, preferably about 8-10 glasses of fluid a day. The drinks should also include herbs and diuretic plants. Thanks to the large amount of fluid, the kidneys andbladderare "rinsed".

If you do not feel better after a few days of home treatment, consult your doctor. He often recommends drinking herbs as a supplement to pharmacological treatment. In the case of nephrolithiasis, they facilitate the excretion of sand and stones, while in cystitis - they help in removing bacteria that cause the infection from the body. People prone to various diseases of the urinary system can drink the infusions and decoctions recommended by us as a preventive measure.

Field horsetail for cystitis

Thanks to the very high content of silica, in addition to being easily soluble in water, the field horsetail is widely known as a component of hair, skin and nails strengthening preparations; less often we associate it with the herb used in diseases of the urinary tract.

Modern science, however, has confirmed its great effectiveness in the treatment of urinary bladder infections and the prevention of kidney stones. Horsetail contains many very valuable substances - apart from silica, also flavonoids, potassium s alts, saponins, organic acids, phytosterols, carotenoids, tannins, vitamin C, resin compounds.

Vitamin C acidifies the urine and, together with silica, maintains the proper condition of the mucous membranes, including those lining the bladder. In combination with potassium and flavonoids, silica has a diuretic effect - it flushes out toxins and harmful microorganisms. It also prevents the crystallization of mineralsin the urinary tract. Flavonoids have strong anti-inflammatory properties.

Horsetail from the pharmacy

Horsetail is a component of many herbal preparations recommended for diseases of the lower urinary tract, incl. mixtures in the form of teas or pastes.

An infusion or decoction of this herb will also help in cystitis.

  • 1 tablespoon of horsetail herb, pour a glass of boiling water and set aside for 15 minutes. Drain. Drink this portion of the infusion 3 times a day.
  • 2 tablespoons of herb pour 2 cups of warm water, bring to a boil and simmer, covered, over low heat for 15 minutes.

Green horsetail shoots, without the brown lower part, should be collected from June to August, only in clear weather. They are dried in a well shaded and airy place.

Herbs for urinary tract ailments - common juniper

Juniperus communis - the healing effect of juniper fruit, the so-called pine cones. Due to the content of oils and flavonoids, they have a diuretic and bactericidal effect. They are used in inflammation of the urinary tract and kidneys. They mature in the second year after bonding. It is best to collect them after the first frost, when they easily fall off the twigs. When ripe, they are purple-gray with a bluish or blue coating (do not pick the green berries). They are dried in a drying room at 40 degrees C or in a ventilated room.

  • Pour a flat teaspoon of crushed juniper fruit with a glass of water and heat it until it boils. Remove from heat, cool slightly, strain and drink 1/4 cup twice a day.

Goldenrod has a diuretic and antibacterial effect

Goldenrod not only looks attractive and nice, smells sweet, attracts bees, but also has he alth-promoting properties. This is due to the flavonoids, triterpene saponins, tannins, bitterness and mucilaginous compounds contained in the herb, but most of all - phenolic glycosides (especially leocarboside), acid polysaccharides, phenolic acids and essential oil.

It is the combination of leocarboside, flavonoids and essential oil that makes goldenrod one of the most powerful diuretic herbs - it increases the amount of urine excreted by up to several hundred percent! The presence of tannins is antibacterial, and salicylates, leocarpic acid and flavonoids make goldenrod have strong antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. All in all, goldenrod is a very effective support in the treatment of almost all diseases of the urinary system - from urinary bladder infections to urolithiasis, inflammation of the glomeruli and renal pelvis.

  • Goldenrodcommon from the pharmacy

The goldenrod herb is an ingredient of many popular diuretic preparations. If necessary, you can also prepare fresh infusions and decoctions from the goldenrod itself. The alcoholic extract of this herb can also help with the first symptoms of cystitis.

  • 100 g of fresh or dry goldenrod herb pour 450 ml of warm dry red wine, add
  • 50 ml of pure 40% vodka. Set aside for 2 weeks, then strain and store the tincture in a dark glass bottle. Drink 30 ml once a day.
Worth knowing

Healing sitz baths

In cystitis, sit-ups, i.e. sitting in warm water with the addition of appropriate herbs, are very helpful. Add 2 cups of chamomile, horsetail or oak bark infusion to a basin filled with water at approx. 36 ° C. Do such sit-ups 2 times a day for 15 minutes.

Bearberry: fights inflammation of the bladder and kidneys

Bearberry leaves contain a rare set of chemical compounds, incl. phenolic glycosides (mainly arbutin) and their gallic acid esters, free hydroquinone, hydrolysing tannins, triterpenes (including ursolic acid), flavonoids and mineral s alts. This set of substances is extremely effective in combating inflammation of the bladder and kidneys, especially chronic and recurrent ones.

Glycosides and tannins are hydrolyzed in the urine, resulting in the formation of bactericidal compounds - hydroquinone and pyrogallol, which act on the bacteria that are the most common cause of urinary tract infections. A large amount of flavonoids, especially isoquercitin, is not only anti-inflammatory, but also diuretic.

Bearberry from the pharmacy

The very high effectiveness of bearberry makes the leaves of this plant a component of numerous preparations that are intended for the treatment of bacterial urinary tract infections, e.g. herbal mixtures. When using bearberry - both ready-made preparations and self-prepared infusions - care must be taken to keep the urine alkaline (only then arbutin produces a strongly bactericidal hydroquinone); this can be achieved by drinking plenty of water. It is also worth knowing that during the treatment with this herb, urine has a dark olive color, and as he alth improves, it becomes lighter and loses an unpleasant smell.

  • 1 tablespoon of bearberry leaves pour a glass of water and set aside for 45 minutes. Then gradually heat for about 5 minutes until boiling. Pour the decoction into a thermos; drink 1-2 tablespoons every 3 hours.
Important

Drink good water

One of the causes of urinary tract infections istoo little urine output (has disinfectant properties). Therefore, you need to drink a lot of water (about 1 1/2 liters a day), but not mineral water, because the compounds present in it can be an additional burden on the urinary system. It can be, for example, tap water filtered in a special jug with a filter cartridge, which will effectively reduce the contamination in the water. Drinking well-purified water will increase the amount of urine and help remove pathogenic bacteria that are causing the infection.

Parsley for urolithiasis and cystitis

Petroselinum sativum - extracts from the root and fruit of this plant, due to the content of oils and furanocoumarins, have a strong diuretic and diastolic effect. They also disinfect the urinary system and prevent the formation of stones in the kidneys. Parsley roots, eaten raw or cooked, can also provide relief from ailments caused by kidney stones and cystitis. The roots are harvested in October and dried in drying rooms at 35 degrees C.

Fruits are obtained from flowers in the second year of growing. They ripen in August and look like small, gray-green splits. They are dried in a ventilated place.

  • Pour half a teaspoon of dried, powdered root with a glass of boiling water. We drink half a glass twice a day.

Lovage has a diuretic effect

Levisticum officinale - lovage root is used in medicine. Thanks to the diuretic properties of the coumarins and the oil present in it, it is recommended as an aid in the treatment of kidney stones (it facilitates the removal of sand from the kidneys and protects against its formation) and cystitis. The plant's roots for medicinal purposes should be harvested (after cutting the aerial part) in the second and third growing years, in fall and early spring. Cleaned from the ground, it is dried at 30 - 35 degrees C, and ground immediately before making the infusion.

Lubczyk from the pharmacy

Ready-made preparations: phytolysin, urosan, uropathine, urogran.

  • Pour a teaspoon of crushed, dried root with a glass of boiling water and let it brew for 15 minutes, covered. We drink 1-2 glasses of the infusion during the day.

Herbs for cystitis - precautions

Herbs are effective, but take them carefully because:

  • An excess of juniper fruit extract may cause kidney irritation and hematuria. It should not be used by pregnant women and during menstruation.
  • Treatment with horsetail extracts can cause vitamin B1 deficiency in the body. The deficiency should be supplemented by taking preparations containing this vitamin.
  • Preparations from parsley root and fruit, due to the content of parsley oil, which causes uterine contractions in excess, cannot be used by pregnant women.
  • Lovage has a photosensitizing effect, therefore you must not sunbathe during the treatment.
