The Budzik Clinic is the first center in Poland that deals with awakening children and adolescents from coma. It was launched in July 2013 as the first model hospital in Poland for children after severe brain injuries. During the nearly 3 years of operation of the center, 27 patients have been awakened from coma.

It was established in July 2013 at the Children's Memorial He alth Institute in Międzylesie on the initiative of the "Akogo?" Foundation, founded by actress Ewa Błaszczyk. The first patient woke up from a coma in September 2013. During less than 3 years of operation of the center, a total of 27 patients were awakened (as of May 2016).
Alarm Clock Clinic - qualification rules
Children and adolescents from 2 to 18 years of age are admitted to the Alarm Clock Clinic, who:
Children can be treated at the Alarm Clock Clinic for 12 months, with the option of extending it for another 3 months.
- stay in a coma for no longer than 12 months after the injury or 6 months if the coma occurred due to non-traumatic causes
- are cardio-respiratory efficient (without a respirator)
- eligible for neurological rehabilitation
The final decision on admission is made by the Medical Qualification Team for the Program for Awakening Children from Coma, which includes: head of the unit, neurologist, rehabilitation doctor, pediatrician, physiotherapist, nurse and secretary of the Committee and - as an observer - representative Foundation "Akogo?".

In May 2016, an experimental therapy brought from Japan was introduced at the Alarm Clock Clinic. The pacemaker sends a "burst of electricity" to the brain every 15 minutes, thereby increasing cerebral flow and stimulation of the brain. This is to help wake you up. The first procedure of this type in Poland took place in May 2016 in Olsztyn and was carried out by specialists brought from Japan by the "Akogo?" Foundation. together with doctors from Poland. At the beginning, it was carried out in 4 patients, including 22-year-old Ola Janczarska, daughter of Ewa Błaszczyk, the founder of the Budzik Clinic.

There are still no similar sites for adults. This, however, may change soon. The Alarm Clock program for adults went to the Ministry of He alth. The adult wake up clinic is to be established in Olsztyn. In the new clinic for adults, the procedures will be similar to those in the Alarm Clock Clinic. However, it is not known when it should start working.
