I have degeneration of the ankle. The doctor I am treating has qualified me for endoprosthesis surgery. Unfortunately, the timing of this operation is roughly scheduled in 2 years. What can I do to prevent pain that is getting worse every day? Sometimes I can't stand on my feet anymore and unfortunately I have to walk. Maybe you know some way to get this pond moving at least a little?

Hello,
You need to change your diet, which will significantly help in the fight against the disease, increasing the amount of vitamins such as C, E, B1, B6, B12 as well as micro- and macroelements in your meals. The diet should be dominated by fruits and vegetables, whole grains, white cheese and poultry. Consume fish quite often - mackerel, herring, salmon, sardines, which contain omega-3 fatty acid to help reduce swelling. It is good to eliminate beef and pork from the diet and everything that acidifies the body, so it is good to give up: chocolate, cakes, sweetened juices, white flour, coffee or black tea. Only after consulting a doctor, you can start using some herbs, essential oils or homeopathy. You can try energy sessions with an energotherapist who, through his actions, can reduce the feeling of discomfort. Using acupressure or the technique of laying and holding in the correct (mudra) hand positions can also reduce pain over time. You should try alternating baths once in cold and once in warm water. We use each selected method individually for about one month to be able to check whether a given technique is helpful for us. Remember that when we take medicine, we cannot drink herbs, use homeopathy or aromatherapy, because the effects of drugs may be impaired, and then we will wonder why nothing helps us. This does not apply to the ointment, which can be used all the time and so capsaicin ointment (available at the pharmacy) reduces pain. Glucosamine - a food supplement that rebuilds articular cartilage. Curcumin has anti-inflammatory properties, such as herbs from thyme, blueberry, St. John's wort, chestnut bark or ginger. Guaiac wood infusion reduces pain and flushes out damaged cells from the diseased area by increasing blood flow. Well-chosen exercise will help provide the articular cartilage with the natural nutrients needed to keep the joints moving. ChineseTai chi chuan exercises will allow you to "move" the joints, and also show how to move so as not to overload them. Swimming, which is the least invasive, is a form of relaxation and exercise, just like water jogging. Avoid positions in which we stand or sit for a long time during the day. It is good to have an alternative so that the diseased leg can be placed in a position where it will be as lightly loaded as possible. Choosing chairs, armchairs from which we can "easily" get up without burdening the joint. Wearing special shoes that can be purchased at orthopedic stores. Please try and choose the method that will bring you relief. Regards
