It turned out that I cannot use the IUD because it causes heavy menstrual bleeding and thus anemia that I have been struggling with for several years. Anemia also contributed to the ischemic stroke I experienced 9 years ago. I have been using the IUD all this time, but the persistent bad blood results have forced me to remove it. What kind of contraception could I use due to my medical condition?
The abundance of menstrual bleeding is reduced by the hormone contraceptive insert. Only the attending physician can decide whether or not you can apply it. Appropriate tests should be performed, which is the cause of heavy menstrual bleeding, including coagulation tests (bleeding disorders may be acquired). Perhaps you require heavy bleeding treatment in a way other than the use of hormonal drugs, and then you could use all methods, except hormonal and traditional IUDs, for contraception.
