Łagów is sometimes called the pearl of the Lubusz Land. In its center there is the medieval castle of the Knights Hospitaller. Fresh air, crystal water in the lake are not the only attractions. At the turn of June and July, the oldest film festival in Poland takes place here - the Lubuskie Film Summer.
Łagówis a small townin the Lubusz Land- in the land of the most beautiful beech forests, moraine hills and the cleanest lakes, in the heart of a landscape park, on the lakes Łagowskie and Trześniowskie. The local microclimate is one of the mildest in Poland. Scientific research confirms its positive effect on the body, which is why Łagów has been classified as a potential spa town.
Walks in the beech forests will help stressed people, people with cardiovascular diseases and throat diseases. Essential oils soothe migraine and tension headaches. They add energy, as well as refresh, soften and moisturize the epidermis, giving the skin a he althy, youthful appearance.
Łagów: attractive neighborhood
The vicinity of Łagów encourages cycling (you can rent the equipment on the spot) and hiking along nature and educational paths (marked with a green leaf sign on a white background). In the Łagowski Landscape Park you will see many unique protected plants and animals (crane, black stork, white-tailed eagle, eagle owl, otter). It is worth visiting the "Nietoperek" and "Nietoperek II" reserves (in the Międzyrzecz Fortified Region) with a system of underground and above-ground fortifications creating a network of 30 km long corridors. Tens of thousands of bats hibernate in the undergrounds.
In the forests of Łagów you will find blueberries, raspberries and mushrooms. The lakes are a paradise for scuba divers, fishermen and water sports enthusiasts. You can reach the isthmus connecting both lakes and secluded fishing piers by canoe or bicycle. It is best to go on a trip in the morning or in the evening to enjoy nature in silence, admire water lilies, ducks and swans. The "Łagów" Recreation Park awaits fans of swimming and lounging in the sun.
Łagów: monuments
In the center of Łagów there is the Castle of the Knights Hospitaller, the landmark of the village. Be sure to climb the castle tower, from where you can see Łagów and the surrounding area. The church of St. John the Baptist from the 18th century, pre-war tenement houses and two gates throughcenturies marked the boundaries of the village.
There is also a park with an amphitheater and a summer cinema. One of the most mysterious places in Łagów is Sokola Góra with the remains of an old cemetery. You can see the remains of the moat below. It is worth going to the unused railway viaduct, a good vantage point.
Cinema lovers and creators come to Łagów for the Lubuskie Film Summer (the oldest film festival in Poland, takes place at the turn of June and July). The series of concerts under the slogan "Music at the Joannitów" that has been running since May is fun for amateurs of classical music. There are hotels, holiday centers, guesthouses, campsites and campsites waiting for tourists. There are several shops, restaurants, cafes, fast food outlets and canteens.
