But just like native apples or plums, they contain a lot of minerals, vitamins and fiber. In addition, they can turn an ordinary dish into a unique dish.

Exotic fruits: persimmon (sharon, cocoa)

Orange round fruits resemble tomatoes. They have a smooth and shiny skin (edible) with a large, dry, green flower calyx. The flesh of the ripe fruit is jelly-like and sweet. It is best suited for sauce, sorbet or jelly. Firm fruit can be cut into pieces and served with cheese or added to a salad. More tart fruits are suitable for drying - then they taste similar to figs. It is a good source of beta-carotene and vitamin C. Due to the high fiber contentpersimmonhas a laxative effect.

Passion fruit is perfect for juice, it is also a great addition to cocktails, ice cream, yoghurt and other milk desserts. Peeled passion fruit can be eaten raw. Orange fruits are sour, purple fruits are sweet. Passion fruit is high in vitamin C, beta-carotene, B vitamins, calcium and iron.

Exotic fruits: kumquats

Looks like a miniature orange. The fruit is the size of a plum, it can be oval or spherical, with an orange, smooth and thin skin. The flesh consists of several particles. There are seeds in each of them. The fruit is slightly acidic and aromatic. They are eaten raw with the skin on, or cooked whole or divided. You can make compote and marmalade, preserves or tincture from them. Candied kumquats are added to desserts. Choose fruit of a uniform color. They provide vitamins, especially C, and mineral s alts.

Exotic fruits: mango

Depending on the variety, they differ in color and size. Some specimens exceed 1 kg, but the best fruit is 30-50 grams. They are most often elongated and somewhat flattened, have a thin and smooth but hard skin which, although edible, is usually thrown away. The flesh is yellow-orange, juicy. There is a large, flattened stone in the center of the fruit. The fruit is eaten in different ways. You can cut the mango in half, remove the stone and eat the pulp with a teaspoon, or cut it into small pieces. Mango is best chilled in the fridge. Raw fruit is added to salads, cooked for desserts, preserves, and sauces. As the fruit ripens, it turns from dark green to yellow, golden to red. Some varieties can be stored in the refrigerator for up to several weeks. Mango is rich in sugar, protein, fiber, minerals and beta-carotene.vitamins C, PP and group B.

Exotic fruits: guava

It looks like a spherical pear. It has an edible smooth skin covered with a waxy coating. The flesh with numerous small edible seeds is most often yellow or pink with a sweet and slightly sour taste. The raw fruit, cut into quarters, can be eaten alone or added to a salad. When cooked, it is added to desserts and cakes. They are suitable for preserves - juice, syrup, marmalade. As it matures, the guava turns from green to light yellow or light pink. You can store it for a few days at room temperature, even a dozen or so in a refrigerator. It contains sugar, protein, calcium, iron and a lot of vitamin C. It surpasses citrus fruits in this respect.

Exotic fruits: papaya

The fruits are oval in shape, most often they are small (20-30 g), but you can find them weighing 6 kg. The flesh with numerous black edible seeds (but they are most often thrown away) is yellow-orange, salmon or pink in color. It is sweetish, not very expressive in taste. The papaya is cut lengthwise in half, the seeds are removed and the pulp is eaten, or the papaya is peeled and cut into pieces. It tastes best when sprinkled with lemon juice. It is added to salads, jams and pickles. You can also cook and prepare like pumpkin vegetables. Papaya is ripe when it becomes soft and turns from green to orange or dark yellow. The fruits are very fragile. They contain sugar, a lot of vitamin C and beta-carotene.

Exotic fruit: pomelo

They are the largest fruits of the citrus family. Some specimens weigh up to 2 kg. The fruit looks like a large grapefruit - it has a yellow, yellow-green or pink spongy skin up to 5 cm thick. It is less bitter, but also less flavorful and less juicy than grapefruit. It is eaten raw, alone or in salads. Pomelo can be made into juice and marmalade. Candied crust is a good addition to cakes and desserts. Pomelo can be stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator for a long time, but over time the fruit dries up and loses weight. When buying, it is best to choose heavy fruit. Pomelo is a mine of minerals and vitamins, especially C.

Exotic fruits: lychee (Chinese plum)

They resemble raspberries, but are larger and covered with a thin, dry, lumpy shell, carmine, yellow or yellow-brown in color. They have an inedible bean-sized seed inside. When the fruit is ripe, the shell is easily detached from the flesh. You split it with your fingers and eat the sweet, aromatic, jelly-like flesh. Lychee tastes great with whipped cream. They are added to salads, compotes, fish and poultry dishes. Peeled fruit without seeds can be frozen. Stored inroom temperature, they deteriorate after 2-3 days.
