Creating a wedding stylization is associated with considerable dilemmas in the case of mature women. What will be in a good tone, will allow you to look feminine, elegant, not too provocative? The good news is, you don't have to limit yourself to dresses only or buy a special outfit for a wedding. The key is to combine comfort with good taste, high-quality fabrics and matching the whole to the body.
Dresses for a weddingand other outfits chosen for this occasion should not be too tight or too loose. The reason is simple: a well-chosen cut will translate into joyful fun on the dance floor, and at the same time will ensure an impeccable look.
Dresses for a wedding for mature people - what length?
When it comes to the length of the dress, some unwritten rules apply to everyone, regardless of age.
The dress should reach at least to the knees - here the cocktail dresses, slightly flared, perfect for spring or summer, stand out. Such a creation will be useful not only for a wedding, but also for going out to the theater on a warm evening or other celebration or important event.
Another option for midi length, so a dress that ends more or less in the middle of the calves. It's a good choice for people who don't like cocktail dresses. Here you can afford a better fit to the body, as well as a cut (but not too long!).
On the other hand, it is better to avoid maxi dresses, which are more of an evening or even ball-gown character. Besides, they are not the most practical when dancing.
Dress design for a wedding
The already mentioned flared, or cocktail dresses, look good on the figure, regardless of age. They are recommended especially for pear-type figures - they allow you to slightly mask wider hips or thighs.
If you want to emphasize the waist line, choose a slim fit or a cut with a belt in this place.
A good choice are also pencil cuts, i.e. creations sometimes called pouch dresses. They can be smooth and without any decorations or details, or with a slight cut - then they are even more comfortable.
Built-in arms with decorative details and ruffles will visually expand this zone - this is good news for owners of a pear figure.
In the case of an apple-like silhouette, the top is worth visuallyto slim down. So you can decide on a dress with thin straps or without straps, cut above the bust. An outfit with a fashionable flounce across the entire width in this zone will look interesting.
What about masking my tummy or chubby hands? All decorative accessories and creases in these places will come to the rescue. A high-waisted flared dress is also a good advice for a tummy problem.
Dress colors and patterns for ladies 50+ and 60+
In wedding fashion, cream and pastel shades are the most popular: pink, beige, blue, mint green. They are recommended for ladies regardless of their age. But if someone wants to stand out from the crowd, he should choose more expressive colors.
Especially fiery red promotes femininity - it emphasizes the strength of character and adds sex appeal. A red dress for a wedding is therefore an excellent choice.
However, when cool colors seem better, it is worth paying attention to different shades of blue. Turquoise, sapphire, cornflower blue, navy blue and cob alt shades will be phenomenally presented. Both silver and gold accessories fit them. So you can bring more chic and shine to your styling.
You should also remember that warm colors sometimes make the figure visually wider, and cool ones - slightly narrow it.
What about patterns? If the wedding takes place in spring or summer, floral motifs immediately come to mind. Here, however, one should be careful. It is better to avoid small flower patterns - they are often associated with "grandma's" creations and can optically add age.
You can look much more effective in a dress with multi-colored, resized flowers, and not necessarily against a light background. For example, floral patterns on blue dresses make a real sensation. Flowers don't have to cover the entire dress either. If they are located only on a fragment of it (e.g. top or bottom), the styling will seem more modern.
Similarly, you have to be cautious about lace and openwork. It is true that they have been very fashionable for several seasons, but they are sometimes associated with … a dignified age. And the point is to optically rejuvenate. So even asymmetrical lace applications will be better - more dynamic, fresh and modern.
Other recommendable designs are a fashion classic that you can play freely in styling. These are, for example, stripes - vertical ones also have the power of slimming the figure. In turn, dots and polka dots are associated with the girly look. So let's "rejuvenate" a bit with their help. You have to be careful about the checkered pattern, which may look too serious and may not be suitable for weddings.
White and black dress - is it appropriate to wear for a wedding?
The white dress is traditionally reserved for the main character of the event, i.e. the bride. However, contemporary trends are less restrictive and guests are also allowed to wear white dresses many times. In the case of mature women, however, it is better to stick to the classics, the more that so many interesting colors and patterns can be found in formal wear.
Similarly, it is worth approaching a black dress. The assumption of such a creation could be wrongly received, although here, too, today's customs are looser. Because black is not only associated with mourning and sadness, but above all with good style and fashion classics. So you can consider wearing a little black dress for the wedding, but you need to liven it up with colorful accessories.
Wedding suit
Although suits may seem a bit old-fashioned, they look great in the wedding option. You just have to put on a more modern look, and skillfully adjust them to your figure.
A good choice is, for example, a pastel dress combined with a matching, short jacket. Such a set will be useful on a cooler day, e.g. an autumn wedding.
Another set worth recommending is a jacket and cigarillos. It is worth departing from the classics in the "causal business" style, i.e. navy blue or gray. Vivid colors are much better for a wedding. For them, it is best to choose high heels, which will additionally slim the figure, and an elegant clutch bag.
This will ensure a phenomenal wedding stylization, which will guarantee a positive distinction among guests. It will also be the most appropriate for the occasion.
You also don't have to be afraid of women's suits and suits - just like suits, the most interesting ones are those in more vivid colors.
