The first city where it was decided to subsidize the program was Częstochowa. The next one is Łódź. Who can take advantage of IVF treatments financed by local governments?

In vitro reimbursementunder the program "Infertility Treatment by In vitro Fertilization for 2013-2016", it was carried out from July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2016. Minister of He alth Konstanty Radziwiłł decided to cancel the next edition of the program. Currently, almost 18,000 couples who are undergoing an IVF procedure and have so far benefited from state support, will have to pay for the continuation of treatment out of their own pocket. Some local governments decided to help such pairs. The first city where it was decided to subsidize the program was Częstochowa. Another one is Łódź, where nearly 100 pairs will start the procedure. In the following years, it will be from 200 to 250 pairs a year. The city co-finances the amount of up to 5,000. gold three trials of the in vitro procedure. Couples who want to apply for co-financing of infertility treatment using the IVF method in Łódź may submit applications for admission to the program from July 18 this year.

In vitro refund - who can benefit?

The co-financing of the in-vitro procedure by local governments will be available (similarly to the government program):

The place in the queue for free IVF treatment depends on the order in which the couple came and qualified by doctors.

  • couples (including those living without marriage) who have been diagnosed with infertility (medically documented), which cannot be cured by any available methods;
  • couples who have unsuccessfully treated infertility in the last year before signing up for the program;
  • couples who, for various reasons, e.g. oncological, may experience loss of fertility in one of the partners in the future;

Participation in the program is available towomen up to 40 years of agewho have successfully passed the initial screening, and their partners for whom there is noage restrictions. The date of the woman's first visit is decisive. If a woman turns 40 between the day of applying to the program center and the day of qualifying for the program, she will still have the right to benefit from it. There are no age limits for men.

Who is NOT eligible for the IVF program? Reasons for disqualification

The situations that exclude couples for medical reasons are:

  • unable to collect reproductive cells from one of the partners;
  • potential risk of a lack of a proper response to ovulation stimulation: (follicle stimulating hormone - FSH above 15 mU / mL on day 2-3 of the cycle or AMH anti-muller hormone below 0.5 ng / mL - according to the old-generation test reagents, i.e. below 0.7 ng / mL - according to the new generation of reagents used in the study);
  • incorrect response to previous ovulation stimulation, as evidenced by the lack of obtaining eggs in 2 stimulation cycles;
  • recurrent pregnancy loss in the same relationship;
  • uterine defects which absolutely prevent a woman from carrying a pregnancy;
  • no uterus;

In vitro refund 2013-2016 - how much did it cost?

One cycle of fertilization did not cost more than $ 7.5 thousand. zloty. This sum includes the fees for:

  • clinical part, i.e. hormonal tests and observation of the patient's he alth;
  • biotechnological part, i.e. egg collection, in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer to the uterus;

This sum also includes the embryo storage fee. According to the Ministry of He alth, "embryos with proper development that have not been transferred to the uterus are stored until they are used", and "the next cycle of egg collection and fertilization cannot be performed without the use of all previously obtained and stored embryos".

  • in 2013, when 2,000 people started treatment par, the costs amounted to PLN 33 million,
  • in 2014, when 5.5 thousand people participated in the program. par, the costs amounted to PLN 80 million,
  • in 2015 and by June 31, 2016, 7.5 thousand people joined the program. par, the costs amounted to PLN 131 million.

In total, PLN 250 million was spent on IVF from public funds.
