I have a mother suffering from schizophrenia, who has not taken any medications for 10 years and does not even want to hear about seeing a doctor. At the beginning of her illness, she regularly went to a specialist and took medication for 3 years, but when she felt better, she did not want to hear about her illness. Her condition has been deteriorating recently. She has been out of work for several years, which makes it harder to get along with her, because mum has her theories on all topics and it is impossible to convince her in any way. I would like to know how to persuade her to see a psychiatrist or possibly what is the court procedure that would force her to undergo treatment?

A person suffering from schizophrenia can be placed in the hospital by a court judgment, when untreating it poses a threat - further deterioration of he alth or the environment.

The basis for the application to the Court is the opinion of a psychiatrist from PZP who will visit the patient at home. The procedure is quite lengthy.
