I went with my mother to a psychiatrist. I thought that I would talk to the doctor, tell me what I am afraid of, what I have a problem with, and she will ask me. However, the visit lasted about 15 minutes. She did not ask much, and when it comes to such matters, it does not matter. I am 18 years old, I said that I suspect dysthymia, recently depression, sociophobia, procrastination. She just said it was a pubertal condition. I felt as if she was accusing me of making up something. I feel very unsatisfied at all. She didn't tell me anything specific. Is this what a visit to a psychiatrist looks like?
A visit to a psychiatrist can be very different, because psychiatrists are also different. I think that you have unnecessarily relieved the doctor in making the diagnosis, and her answer may indicate that she agrees with you, but does not see the problem for treatment. Hence the conclusion: go to a psychologist and psychotherapy!
