When pain is bothering, most of us quickly reach for painkillers - we swallow and do not think about the enormous burden on the stomach or liver painkillers are. And yet you can also fight pain with other methods.
Before you start fighting the pain on your own, find out what is causing your ailments. This can only be assessed by a doctor who, based on the symptoms described by the patient, will know what form of therapy to recommend. In diagnosing pain, details are important - its type, duration, intensity, whether it disappears after takingpainkillers(the type and dose is important), in what situations it gets worse, etc. Many pain ailments caused by injuries, degenerative changes or muscle overload can be alleviated by heating or cooling painful areas. Cooling leads to vasoconstriction, which reduces exudate and inflammation, thus reducingpain , because the cold anesthetizes the nerve endings that carry pain signals. Heat, on the other hand, dilates the vessels, which causes more blood to flow to the tissues. The blood that flows through them reduces the exudation because it flushes out inflammation-causing compounds. As a result, the swelling is reduced and the pain is relieved.
Electricity-generating devices to help fight pain
In medical stores you can buy many small devices that help fight pain. Extremely handy is a camera resembling a thick pen (eg Pain Gone). This device generates a current of specially selected intensity and voltage, which stimulates the nerve endings and stimulates the production of natural painkillers, i.e. endorphins. These compounds block the transmission of pain stimuli at the level of the spinal cord and brain. The device uses theTENSmethod, i.e. percutaneous stimulation. Just put the tip of the camera on the skin and then press the button 30-40 times. The treatment should be repeated at least 5-7 times a day. Devices in which current-conducting electrodes are placed on a special A4 sheet of paper or are located on cables, which allow you to stimulate the nerves, e.g. in the lumbar region, shoulder or spine, work similarly.
Sollux lamps - analgesic effect depending on the type of filter
Lamps of this type use healing propertiesinfrared rays. The analgesic effect depends on the type of filter used. The red filter warms up, causes tissue hyperemia, and therefore has anti-inflammatory properties. Such therapy is used in chronic inflammation. The blue filter works to relieve pain. It is recommended for neuralgia, hypersensitivity, acute inflammation, because this type of filter reduces thermal radiation that could aggravate inflammation. During irradiation, the lamp is placed 20-30 cm from the place of heating in the case of local irradiation and at a distance of over 100 cm in the case of general irradiation. The time of such a procedure depends on the power of the bulb and the type of disease, and the intensity of the action - incl. the distance of the IR lamp from the skin and the exposure time. When irradiating in the area of the face and chest, cover your eyes with protective glasses.
ImportantIt is worth having at home:
- Medlight 630 PRO - LED lamp for home use, emits near infrared light, enables the treatment of difficult-to-heal wounds, has an analgesic effect (Medlight, about PLN 1400).
- Sollux lamp - uses infrared light, helpful in combating joint pain (Philips, about PLN 100).
- Bioptron Compact III - polychromatic light (Zepter, about PLN 2,000) is used for therapeutic purposes.
- Pain Gone - the device is called an analgesic stick, it generates electricity of a specially selected intensity and voltage (Pain Gone, about PLN 250).
Bioptron lamps - pain relief using polychromatic light
The light emitted by the lamps is polychromatic light, ie it contains a wide wavelength range, including visible light and part of the infrared range. The electromagnetic spectrum of the lamp does not contain ultraviolet radiation and has a low energy density, which is good for various biological processes in the body. Therapy with this light must be planned individually. Before starting it, it is necessary to consult a doctor who will assess whether the treatments can be used and in what doses.
LED lamps relieve pain of various origins
They are gaining more and more followers. These devices use LED electrostimulation diodes that emit light near infrared. Irradiating the painful areas of the body with the light from the LED lamp increases the local circulation, thanks to which substances responsible for the development of inflammation are washed out from the cells. This in turn relieves pain caused by trauma, inflammation of the nerves, joints, and muscle overload. Handy devices (e.g. Medlight 630 PRO) are safe, do not damage the skin, and can be used whenever we feel pain.
