Can I privately insure my daughter working abroad in the event of illness with ZUS?
Probably it is a voluntary insurance in the National He alth Fund. People who are voluntarily insured have the right to treatment in Poland and abroad. The basis for treatment abroad will be an EHIC document confirming that the person pays he alth insurance contributions in Poland.
Everyone who wants to be covered by voluntary he alth insurance must complete the necessary formalities not only in the National He alth Fund, but also in ZUS. Therefore, a person interested in such insurance must first submit an application for voluntary he alth insurance to the provincial branch of the National He alth Fund. Such an application can be obtained at any branch of the National He alth Fund or downloaded from the website of the National He alth Fund. Then it is necessary to conclude a voluntary he alth insurance contract with the National He alth Fund. Covering the person concerned with voluntary he alth insurance takes place on the date specified in the contract concluded with the National He alth Fund - but not earlier than on the date of submitting the application, and shall cease on the date of termination of this contract or after one month of uninterrupted arrears in paying contributions. Voluntary he alth insurance also ends if the person is covered by compulsory he alth insurance.
After completing the formalities with the NFZ, the insured should submit the ZUS ZZA document with the insurance title code 24 10 XX to the relevant local ZUS organizational unit, within 7 days of concluding the contract with the NFZ. Additionally, for each month of being subject to he alth insurance, the insured person is obliged to submit a ZUS DRA settlement declaration with a settled he alth insurance premium. Contribution payments are made to the ZUS account, via post or banks with confirmation on the appropriate forms.
