I am on sick leave after an accident at work. In the meantime, I was qualified to a sanatorium, for which I waited 18 months (not related to the disease for which I am on sick leave). In this case, can I go to the sanatorium while on the current leave?
YES. A stay in a sanatorium may take place as part of a sick leave issued in connection with another disease. In this case, the presence in the sanatorium is treated as a sick period. A medical certificate on temporary incapacity to work due to illness is issued only after a direct examination of the insured's he alth condition.
It is worth remembering that after 30 days of incapacity for work, the doctor who carries out the treatment, before issuing a medical certificate of further incapacity for work, assesses whether the insured's he alth condition justifies the need for medical rehabilitation, and if there is such a need - fills out an application for medical rehabilitation, according to the formula set out in separate regulations.
Legal basis: Act of 27 August 2004 on he alth care services financed from public funds (Journal of Laws of 2008, No. 164, item 1027, as amended)
