Today you can set up an electronic he alth card on the Internet. All medical visits, results of laboratory tests, diagnoses and recommendations, data on allergies, even prescriptions and purchased medications will be registered there. The National He althcare System, which offers such a service, covers more and more medical facilities and pharmacies.

All data about yourhe althgathered in one place. Anyonedoctoryou authorize can look there, and at the same time your data is very well protected thanks to access passwords and PINs. Cardemergency , which will allow your doctor to access basic data about your he alth when you are unconscious, for example after a car accident, stroke or heart attack. And you have it all for free. The only expense is a small fee for issuing a plastic card, which you show to your doctor or pharmacist. This is not an excerpt from a futuristic novel. Such a system is already operating in Poland. For example, it is used by patients and doctors from Leszno. More and more medical facilities all over Poland join it.

Electronic he alth card

Storing your own medical records in a traditional way, few people succeed. We lose cards with the results of laboratory tests and ECG records, X-rays are dusty somewhere behind the closet, we do not remember the names of the drugs we took or the last time we tested the level of glucose or cholesterol in the blood or did the cytology. Now we can gather it all in one place. If we are lucky enough to be treated in a facility located in the National He althcare System (this is something completely different than the National He alth Fund, it does not collect he alth insurance contributions, but only collects and stores medical data), it is automatically saved on our account. If we buy drugs in a pharmacy cooperating with OSOZ, the information about the purchased drugs is also recorded. What's more, the doctor can send an electronic prescription directly to the pharmacy (and there will be no problems with deciphering his manuscripts), and we only come to collect the drugs. The system informs the doctor about our allergies and about possible interactions with other drugs that we take before issuing the prescription. It is also possible, thanks to mathematical models, to forecast changes in our he alth condition, to identify threats individually and to proposeprevention programs selected for us. Modern medicine made to measure. And we don't have to pay for it!

How to use OSOZ?

There are two ways. You can go to the website www.osoz.pl and follow the instructions to set up an account and order an OSOZ card. Or look for a medical facility belonging to OSOZ (it will have a logo, such as on the portal) and we will get materials with a card to cut out there. It has a unique number and this card is then registered by creating an account on the OSOZ portal. We set an access password and a PIN to our account. The list of clinics, hospitals and pharmacies from various cities operating within OSOZ can be found at www.osoz.pl/osoz-www/placowkaMedyczna. At the doctor's or in the pharmacy operating as part of OSOZ, we show our card and authorize access to the account, i.e. our electronic he alth card, with a PIN code. Then the doctor or pharmacist will be able to use the information collected there and add new data and recommendations and save the purchased drugs. The OSOZ system can also be used when a doctor is not working within it. It only needs to have access to the Internet, or we come to it with our own laptop (or other mobile device with Internet access). We then log in using the access password and PIN, and provide the data to the doctor. In such a situation, however, its diagnosis or important data related to the recommendations and therapy will not be saved automatically - we have to complete them ourselves. An individual he alth account can also be a kind of a diary in which we record the values of blood pressure or glucose measurements, if we are instructed to do them ourselves, we can record a temperature graph when we need it to determine fertile days, write down reactions after taking medications, etc.

Our card abroad

We can use the data collected on the electronic account at OSOZ without any problems, also abroad. Documentation, if introduced by medical facilities and pharmacists, is kept using the international classification of disease entities and medical procedures and the international names of active substances in medicines. A doctor abroad will learn much more about our he alth from the OSOZ kaont than from us.
