I have a problem with a tooth that my dentist thinks may need root canal treatment. At my request, the dentist tries to treat my tooth in a different way. First, he removed my caries and put a dressing on for 2 weeks, my tooth did not hurt, so he put on a dressing for 6 months. Nothing hurt, until a few hours after leaving the dentist, I ate something hard, my tooth ached as before ( mainly the gum above it). Some time later, the pain slowly subsided and now I am not worried about anything again. Does this mean that root canal treatment is necessary, or maybe this pain was only temporary and I don't need to worry?
Today's modern root canal treatment may be a better solution than trying conservative treatment. In your case, both hypotheses may be true. It may be tooth tenderness after the procedure, which will pass and there will be no pain. This may be the beginning of an inflammatory process and then endodontic treatment will be necessary. If the pain continues, I advise you not to wait 6 months for your next appointment.
