I have been suffering from epilepsy for 3 years. I have had two attacks during the course of my illness (the last one was over a year ago). I am 28 weeks pregnant and the doctor in charge of my pregnancy has advised me to do a prenatal test at 30 weeks of pregnancy. Is it necessary in your opinion? The previous two turned out to be perfect. My neurologist also gave his opinion and believes that the first two were the most important. Opinions vary on this study, and I am also trying to get advice from everywhere.
I do not advise you to check what anyone thinks about performing prenatal tests on you, but to talk to your attending physician, ask about the indications and what the test is supposed to explain. At 28 weeks of gestation, the fetus is already formed and there must be very specific indications for invasive prenatal testing. However, you should have an ultrasound scan.
