It is often the case that we postpone something we like to do to an undefined date. At a younger age, we explain ourselves with a lot of activities at school, then there are excuses that the children, work… everyday life itself. And where is the time for something fun to add color to your life? Our heroines, although they are no longer teenagers, feel that they live at full capacity. It's worth taking an example from them!
It's never too late to learn. This also applies to passion. It happens - and not infrequently - that it is only in adulthood that we discover a passion for, for example, making pots, learning Spanish or yoga. It is worth following this voice, because when we gain new skills, we give life wings, and everyday life becomes more beautiful.
Jagoda Pawełkiewicz: from economy to travel blog
Mrs. Jagoda Pawełkiewicz, despite the fact that fate has not always been kind to her, gives the impression of a person who can enjoy every moment.
She has worked in economics all her professional life, says bills are in her blood. Many years ago she was charmed by the book (and series) "Roots", then she was fascinated by Africa. In difficult moments, she returned to this reading, this one made her optimistic, but Mrs. Jagoda could only dream of long journeys, because she could not afford them.
1996 was an extremely difficult year in her life: fighting cancer. When it turned out that she had won it, she knew that she wanted to have as many nice memories as possible, because they are priceless. After retiring, she had money set aside to renovate the apartment, but her daughter asked her to finally do something just for herself. Well, and she did.
She went to a travel agency and asked about some trip at a promotional price to a country where it's warm. The choice fell on Crete. Euphoria was mixed with fears: will she cope without knowing the language, or will she have someone to talk to for these few days … It turned out that worrying in advance was not necessary: she spent time in good weather in good company!
Traveling, especially to Tunisia, has become Jagoda Pawełkiewicz's greatest passion. He shares his impressions and experiences from these trips on his blog.
The stay on the island exceeded her wildest expectations and after returning she tried to postpone it in order to go out into the world at least once a year. Managed to! - I've been to Tunisia 9 times -Ms Jagoda remembers today and with a twinkle in her eyes talks about the country she fell in love with from the first time, about the places she saw, the people she met, and the fact that there is a lot of madness in her: many a much younger person would fear parasailing but not her!
She got attached to a rope and parachuted behind the boat. When she landed on the ground, she wrote to her daughter: "I flew, I came back, it was gorgeous." - I have transferred my interest in Tunisia to my blog: www.mlodaemerytka.blogspot.com, where I try to familiarize tourists with everything related to this country: from descriptions of hotels, food, neighborhoods, including customs - says the 67-year-old.
She is interested in literally everything. She is an insightful observer of our Polish reality and shares her observations also on the blog, and is active on various social networks. She believes life is too short to stand in the window and watch who comes in and who leaves her block. He advises mature people how to stay young: - Put your slippers in the corner, go out with a smile to people, try to save a few percent of your pension every month, take a pinch of optimism, a handful of good humor, fly into the unknown and bring a suitcase of impressions. We also deserve something from life! - summarizes and adds that age is not an obstacle in the realization of dreams.
Maria Bąkowska: grandmother with ADHD
Ms Maria Bąkowska was professionally involved in pharmacy. She retired five years ago.
She says about herself that "she is a grandmother with ADHD" - she does not like idleness, warm slippers and following the fate of the series' characters are not for her. Life often writes interesting scenarios, and that's what it was for her. She learned from her seamstress that there was such a thing as decoupage, a decorative technique consisting in sticking a pattern cut out of paper onto wood, metal, glass, fabric, plastic or ceramics.
She liked it so much that she started attending workshops and learning step by step how to beautifully decorate e.g. flowerpots, candlesticks, photo frames or boxes. As her wonders began to receive praise, she felt that this is what gives her breath from everyday life.
Maria Bąkowska has mastered the art of decoupage - she turns ordinary objects into real works of art.
- It is a great pleasure for me when I can give someone a personally decorated bottle or ceramics with a flower motif - says Maria. She does not count how many such original items have come out of her hand. She creates beautifully decorated baubles for the Christmas tree, Easter eggs, vases, original boxes.
Decoupage is a passion that gives her relaxation and satisfaction when she sees the effect of her work and the satisfaction of the recipient. - It's a really simple technique. Anyone can learn it if they want to. It is worth a try. Sometimes you can conjure up a real work of art from a banal thing - laughs Maria. But it is not going to stop at decoupage at all. She is tempted by another challenge - she would like to face the art of calligraphy …
Anna Siekierko: passion for painting
She has always liked to paint, but recently it has become her great passion, without which she can no longer imagine her life. Today, the walls of the house are dominated by her paintings - landscapes, portraits … And everything, as is often the case, started by accident: in 2010, she received canvas and paints from her sister, along with an incentive to return to painting.
- I remember my childhood in Podlasie, in Drohiczyn. At that time, I successfully participated in various drawing and painting competitions, I even thought about an art school, but the sport won - she says and recalls that when she painted her first landscape after a long break, she felt great joy, and very quickly "turned into" for good. First, she built a studio in the house on the first floor, but the family was not satisfied with it, because she was so absorbed in painting that she did not leave her "hollow" for hours. After some time, she set up a workshop in the living room.
- So what if the carpet is stained with paints and I am smeared with various colors and I do not remember to prepare dinner or go shopping. Most importantly, I have a lot of fun painting. I am glad that my family is so understanding - she says and adds that she is not one of the women who spend half a day in the kitchen or look for dust on the cupboards in white gloves.
Anna Siekierko is as much inspired by nature and beautiful landscapes as people and their faces. He paints landscapes and portraits with passion. Her works can be viewed at www.annasiekierko.pl.
- I love meetings with various people, you can learn something from everyone, look at the world from a completely different perspective. I catch moments like butterflies and I feel very comfortable with it. Ms Anna is very fond of traveling, both distant and close. She can be inspired by a lilac flower growing near the house, falling autumn leaves, Parisian alleys or Venetian canals. She remembers with great fondness a three-week trip to Scotland with a group of people, just as positive as she was. If it were possible, she would like to spend a month in the Louvre, visit it thoroughly and enjoy the beauty of the paintings. Her favorite artists are: Leonardoda Vinci, Claude Monet, Diego Velázquez, Henryk Rodakowski. She could talk about their works endlessly. Her eyes shine when she analyzes Master Leonard's "The Last Supper", breaks down the Impressionists' works into prime factors, admires Olga Boznańska's portraits.
And she… doesn't know how many pictures she has already painted!
- I don't count them - he says - but 300 for sure. Some are created in three months, others in six months, and some infinite await their time. I like to paint portraits of people I know. I have to be a bit of a psychologist here, "catch" the most important character traits and transfer them to the canvas - he explains. - I fully agree with what Leonardo da Vinci said: "a good painter must paint two things: a man and the essence of his soul." Therefore, when I don't like a detail, I just paint over the painting that I was creating for a few weeks.
New ideas for images keep popping up in her head. I regret that the day is so short, because there is still so much to paint, so much to see, so much to discover …
Mrs. Anna is glad that five years ago she used her sister's gift so well. And that thanks to this, her everyday life gained additional colors. - Life has so many fantastic things to offer us that it would be a shame to sleep through them. Every day I wake up and I am curious what will happen, what will delight me, what will inspire me. Maybe that's why I do everything quickly so as to miss as little as possible. In order not to regret in a few years that something passed by me somewhere - says Ania, laughing.
