Austrian Tyrol is a beautiful mountain region that turns into one huge ski region in winter. It touches Germany to the north, it borders Switzerland to the west and Italy to the south.

The capital of Tirol is Innsbruck. The city is perfectly organized, full of historic buildings and nice places where you can spend time when there is no skiing weather. Tyrol has many ski resorts - larger regions, consisting of several villages, surrounded by a chain of peaks and smaller, quite intimate, attracted by people who prefer solitude on the slope and romantic trips through the unpacked snow on tour skis.
The topic of the day is as usual, crazy descents down the slopes, discovering new slopes and evening meetings in aprés ski bars and fun in discos. This is also the case in the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski region, close to the Swiss and Italian borders. The hosts named this region Tiroler Ski Dimension, which in any translation means the ski space or the ski universe. Dimension is literally a dimension, so maybe the Tyrolean Ski Dimension would be more appropriate, which sounds rather artificial. Maybe it's about the fourth dimension of the ski area. It is more realistic. Everything in this region is oversized. For example, a real underground ride from the hotel in Serfaus to the lower station of the lifts and the great center of the ski rental shop. This underground railway seems to have only four stops (about 10 km), but what a convenience it is. The metro is free for everyone. It is used by permanent residents as well as skiers. He drives on time, quietly on a magnetic cushion. Apart from Vienna, it is the only metro station in all of Austria. This is not the only distinguishing feature of this region. The melody of the language and the architecture of the buildings are also different here, with the beautifully decorated facades of the houses, hinting at the Romansh influence in this corner of Austria. The gastronomic offer is also different, with a clear admixture of flavors from southern Europe to Austrian cuisine.

The offer of the Tiroler Ski Dimension region for ski lovers is impressive. 185 kilometers of ski slopes, located at altitudes from 1,200 to 2,800, guarantees that during a two-week stay, we can plan the slopes and connections by lifts differently every day. There are also cross-country ski runs, andfor those who like lonely trips on tour skis. The three towns of Serfaus, Fiss, Ladis are connected by a network of gondola lines, chairlifts, T-bar lifts and tapes, the so-called flying carpets that help a lot to navigate in flat terrain. Children and their guardians are the most happy about the tapes.

Tiroler Ski Dimension is a real ski paradise for children. During the few days, when, in order to visit the entire region, I jumped from one gondola to another, I counted a dozen or so groups of children on the slopes under the supervision of instructors. In Serfaus and Fiss, there are special villages for children, where children, under the watchful eye of instructors and guardians, not only perfect themselves in downhill and slalom, but also have mini ice rinks, playgrounds and games, spacious tents with Indian patterns, where to keep them entertained fairy-tale characters care. Children can spend the whole day on the slopes in these villages. They also have their own canteen here. At the same time, parents can try skiing on the slopes themselves or test menus in a dozen or so hostels, located at the gondola transfer stations. However, if we want to spend all the time together, neither parents nor children will be bored here. For example, the highlight of the Möser Alm (1,820 m) is the Fisser Flieger flying machine. It looks a bit like a hang-glider, but hangs on a steel rope between two slopes. It can take up to four passengers on a sky flight. Suspended persons are pulled upside down, and after a dozen or so minutes, after reaching the upper station, go down in a crazy flight. The huge Skywing swing has also been operating here recently. It can take 6 people on its chairs. After being pulled up to a height of several meters, it descends with great speed. The force of gravity then exceeds the gravity four times.
