Małgorzata Braunek never hid her age, she did not fight with a scalpel over time. 30 years ago she discovered Zen - a therapy for body and spirit.
- It's nice to have a he althy body, although … you can't keep it that way forever - saidMałgorzata Braunekin an interview with Zdrowie magazine a few years before her death. - But you have to take care of them, because something is given to us … So, although I'm lazy, in the morning I try to do a few bends, sometimes I will add a few tai-chi moves to this set.
I am also slowly trying to do yoga. Sooooo slow. I have to do what gives me pleasure. I really like to ride a bike, so I get on it whenever I can. I also love swimming, but for many reasons I cannot go to the pool regularly. However, I will try to find time for it, because I simply love water. For me, swimming is a kind of meditation - plunging into the water, I instantly silence my mind.
Małgorzata Braunek: I have a better contact with the world
- I have been practicing Zen for almost 30 years. During the day I meditate for about 40 minutes, and twice a week I organize sessions that last 3 hours. Sometimes my 7-year-old grandson joins me. He can sit completely still for 15-20 minutes. How did I explain to him what to do? Very simple - the point is to be totally mindless and calm. Once I asked him, "When you are sitting like this, are you thinking about something?" And he was like, "Sure, I'm not thinking, and what should I be thinking?" The mind of a child! And I've been coming to that for years (laughs).
Meditation really does put you in better contact with the world. When I became a Buddhist, I quickly felt a change in favor. I walked over to work with much more peace. Before, I had experienced my failures terribly. I realized, however, that the world does not end or begin there. I can play badly, or - on the contrary - fantastic. Being aware of this gave me a great deal of ease. Zen also allowed me to come to terms with age, the aging process. For Buddhists accept the fact that life is what it is and humbly accept it. Every problem is reflected in our face. And what about when we live under constant stress! He's losing us. After all, stress must have an outlet, so one wrinkle appears, the second, the third … And if I am at peace with myself and what surrounds me, my face is more relaxed, cheerful, and thereforeyounger. That's why I joke sometimes: the fact that I end up looking good is just a … side effect of meditation.
How else do I take care of my body and shape? I try to eat he althy. And I'm glad that people are now starting to pay more attention to what they eat. That they no longer have to eat meat 7 times a week. When I decided to become a vegetarian (for ideological reasons) people would knock their heads and keep telling me: "But you won't save the world if you don't eat meat." But is that a reason to stop trying? This is best illustrated by a beautiful story: the forest was on fire, so all animals and birds escaped from it. But one bird flew to the sea, took a drop of water in its spout and returned to the forest. He flew endlessly because he wanted to save this forest. Well, I am aware that it is the same with me (laughs).
