For 4 years I have been struggling with recurring spine pains in the lumbar region and with sciatica. Eventually, the pain prevented me from working, and the neurosurgeon suggested that I stabilize the s-wing under general anesthesia. What will it be like? Is it a safe operation and how long does it take to fully recover?

Personally, I am not a fan of surgery in my patients, but if you can not do otherwise, it may be worth undergoing it. I am not very familiar with this method of surgical treatment, but it is probably about placing external titanium rods screwed into the adjacent vertebral bodies. Rehabilitation does not take long and is rather safe.
