- See how natural antibiotics work!
Natural antibiotics - herbal and vegetable - similarly to pharmaceutical drugs, they fight bacteria, and therefore the cause of the disease. However, they do not cause antibiotic resistance and are not toxic, which makes them safer for the body. Check what are the best natural antibiotics and what properties they have.
Natural antibiotics-herbal and vegetable- have similarpropertiesto the synthetic ones. They effectively destroy bacteria, fungi and protozoa, but, unlike pharmaceutical drugs, they do not cause the phenomenon of antibiotic resistance, i.e. the lack of sensitivity to a specific antibiotic by bacteria previously sensitive to it. In addition, natural antibiotics do not destroy "good" bacteria that protect humans against potentially pathogenic pathogens, and are not toxic like prescription drugs.
Natural antibiotics:
Garlic
Garlic is undoubtedly the leader among natural anti-bacterial drugs. Before the era of antibiotics, it was garlic that was used to prevent and treat many dangerous diseases, including flu. No wonder - garlic is more potent than penicillin.
It owes its healing properties to a mixture of sulfur derivatives, incl. alliin, which decomposes when crushing garlic, among others for a strongly aromatic and bactericidal compound called allicin.
Onion
Onions are effective in combating bacteria thanks to volatile compounds (phytoncides) that are released when vegetables are cut or crushed, as well as by non-volatile compounds that are found in its flesh.
Onions will prove especially useful in combating gastrointestinal infections and catarrh of the upper respiratory tract. In the latter case, the onion not only inhibits the growth of bacteria, but also increases mucus production and restores the spontaneous movement of the ciliary epithelium.
Honey
Honey owes its antibiotic properties to substances such as hydrogen peroxide, lysozyme, inhibin and apidicin. They can fight gram-positive bacteria such as staphylococci and streptococci.
Besides, honey works on anthrax bacilli, tuberculosis and vaginal trichomoniasis. It can also cope with pathogenic fungi of the genus Candida. It is best to reach for honeydew honey from coniferous trees,Linden honey and buckwheat honey from apiaries located above 1000 m above sea level, because these contain the most inhibin.
Oregano oil
Scientists from the Georgetown University Medical Center in their research have shown that oregano oil ( Origanum vulgare ) fights fungi and bacteria as effectively as traditional antibiotics such as streptomycin and penicillin and vancomycin. Oregano oil de alt with Candida albicans, the leading cause of hard-to-treat mycoses, and with Staphylococcus aureus ( Staphylococcus aureus).
The healing properties of oregano oilare attributed to a substance called carvacrol, although research shows that other compounds in this oil are also bactericidal. When taking the oil, remember not to exceed the permissible daily dose, i.e. about 10 drops per teaspoon of liquid 3 times a day.
Grapefruit seed extract
Grapefruit seed extractis rich in bioflavonoids, vitamin C and many other valuable substances. In natural medicine, it is used in the prevention and treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract (gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer, inflammation of the mucosa), infections of the respiratory tract, mouth and skin, and as a means of increasing the body's immunity.
As scientists from the University of Texas Medical Branch argue in "The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine",grapefruit seed extractcan fight over 800 different strains of viruses and bacteria, 100 strains of fungi and a large number of parasites.
The recommended dose of the oil is 2 drops on a teaspoon of liquid (for children - half as much) per day.
Echinacea (Echinacea)
Echinacea preparations, specifically Echinacea, increase the body's natural immunity, and also have anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antiviral and antibacterial properties. Echinacea purpurea contains many healing substances, but the polysaccharides and isobutylamides contained in it have the strongest immunostimulating effect.
Ginger
Gingerwill work in the case of bacterial infections of the digestive system. This spice has been shown to fight pathogens such asSalmonella ,Listeriaand Campylobacter, which are responsible for food poisoning, gastritis and enteritis. This is why ginger is added to sushi (it contains raw fish) and seafood.
Please note that ginger should not be given to children under 2 years of age.
Horseradish
Fresh horseradish root has a bactericidal, viral and fungicidal effectowes to substances such as lysozyme phytoncides and phenylethyl alcohol. Horseradish in the form of a syrup will be especially useful in the course of respiratory infections. Horseradish syrup has an expectorant effect and disinfects the upper respiratory tract. It can also be used in troublesome cough and bronchitis.
Cranberry
Cranberry is a natural antibiotic used primarily in urinary tract infections, most often caused by E. coli bacteria. Cranberry flushes bacteria from the urinary tract, thus accelerating the healing process and preventing the development of further infections.
It also reduces the risk of developing stomach ulcers. It prevents the deposition of bacteria responsible for this disease on the stomach wall.
Lapacho
The bark of the Lapacho tree (pau d'arco) has been known for its antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties for centuries. The infusion of dried lapacho tree bark is used by the indigenous tribes of South and Central America.
- Research has shown that Lapacho contains calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese and potassium. The two main active ingredients are lapachol and beta-lapachone. This tea can be used in diseases caused by viruses, bacteria and fungi. It must be emphasized that it is effective against the bacteriaHelicobacter pylori , which causes gastric ulcers - says the news agency Newseria Lifestyle Eng. Ewelina Plewicka, nutrition specialist at the MdMed clinic.
- You shouldn't exceed the dose of 8 glasses of lapacho a day. Contraindication is pregnancy and the lactation period. I would also not recommend giving this tea to young children. People taking anticoagulants should also be very careful and rather not use lapacho - adds Ewelina Plewicka.
