When going to the Polana Sosny ski station, do not expect either long runs or breakneck descents. You can count on nice weather, which will provide you with peaceful skiing on the wide open slope with a view of Sromowieckie Lake, the Pieniny Mountains and the castle in Niedzica.

Polana Sosny ski resortis not great. The longest of the threeski lifts(T-bar lift) is less than 400 meters with a level difference of almost 100 meters. The route right next to it is marked in red as medium-difficult - at the top it is gentler, but it descends quite steeply to the lower station of the lift. The other two slopes are easy, and the twice as long descent through wide clearings - very easy, walking and scenic. There is also a snowboard park. The slopes are located on the northern slopes, snowed, groomed and illuminated, and the ski equipment works as long as there are 10 people willing to slide on the slope.

This place can be recommended to beginner skiing enthusiasts and family holidays in the snow. This is an offer for those who do not spend the whole day on the slope. First of all, because of the picturesque surroundings: the slope goes down almost to the bank of the Dunajec River, right behind the dam that accumulates the waters of the Sromowiecki Lagoon. From the slope we can see the surface of the (perhaps frozen) lake, and above it - the Nidzica castle.

Picturesque surroundings of the Polana Sosny resort

In the background, behind the water, rise the Gorce and the Radziejowa range belonging to the Beskid Sądecki, and the Pieniny Mountains behind your back. In good weather, you can see the panorama of the Tatra Mountains from the upper ski lift station. Behind the road, between the slope and the Dunajec riverbed, there is an interesting complex of buildings also belonging to the Polana Sosny recreation center. The most impressive of them is a larch manor house, built at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries, which once stood in nearby Grywałd. Moved to the very bank of the river, it now houses the Dwór restaurant, the décor of which refers to the local tradition, and the menu belongs to Polish and Hungarian cuisine.

Two wooden houses standing next to it are the closest accommodation facilities to Polana Sosny. One of them is a house of conspiracy (this is the name of the historic land in which we are), the other is a hut from Kir near the Tatra Mountains. Like the manor house, moved here and reconstructed with carepreservation of the original character. At the foot of the lift, a mini-open-air museum was created, which, however, serves as an accommodation and catering base for tourists in summer, and for skiers in winter.
