Ice creamis said to have been invented in China during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD). They were made from heated cow and goat milk, which was then fermented. The resulting mass was then thickened with flour, mixed with camphor for the aroma and cooled before serving.
Biblical King Solomon used iced drinks during the harvest season, and Alexander the Great loved honey-ice nectars and reportedly even organized special expeditions for the soldiers to the mountains to find the ice.
In turn, the first wafer was produced in 1860 by an Italian, and the recipe was patented in December 1903. At the same time, at a world fair in America in 1904, a Syrian waffle seller began to roll them into a cone to help a neighboring ice cream vendor who unexpectedly ran out of dessert dishes.

Eating ice cream lowers the temperature in the throat, which reduces swelling and accelerates the healing of the mucosa, e.g. after ENT surgery, during angina. To avoid thermal shock on a hot day after eating ice cream, you should eat them slowly - instead of biting off pieces, it's better to just lick them.

Ice cream also makes you feel better. - They are memories of summer, pleasant moments spent on vacation and evoke positive associations related to the sun, refreshment and joy. We also associate them with childhood, they are a bit like a symbol of that beautiful period of our lives when they were a reward for good behavior. Common Sunday walks for ice cream with parents is one of the nice, most often repetitive memoriesall adults - says Małgorzata Ohme, psychologist.
- In addition, the phenylethylamine contained in chocolate stimulates the secretion of endorphins, which have a positive effect on our well-being. Eating chocolate also increases the production of dopamine in the brain, the effect of which on our emotions is comparable to the state of being in love - emphasizes Ohme.

Ice cream and slimming
In this respect, ice cream made from milk, cream or yoghurt is the most valuable. They contain calcium, which is the most important building block of bones and teeth.
A Pole eats an average of four liters of ice cream a year. The average American is twenty-two. Adults have ice cream at least twice a week, and teenagers sometimes even four.
Therefore, ice cream should not be denied to children whose skeleton is still being shaped. They can also be eaten at will by the elderly, at risk of osteoporosis. Calcium contained in milk and its products has one more advantage - it increases the production of the enzyme responsible for fat burning.
Lack of this enzyme causes fat cells to increase in volume. However, this only applies to ice cream made from milk (not sorbets). In addition, they also contain vitamins A, B1, B2 and PP, and even small amounts of iron, magnesium and potassium.

Worth knowingFavorite ice cream
Sales professionals divide ice cream into three categories: impulse, family and gastronomic. The first, i.e. single portions (on a stick, in a wafer or in a cup), which we eat immediately after purchase, are the most popular in Poland. Familijne is ice cream in a box, ice cream cakes and rolls. We have the opportunity to try gastronomy in a cafe, restaurant or ice cream parlor. Sometimes they are even produced on site. We Poles are traditionalists in choosing the taste of ice cream. We invariably eat cream, vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Our children who like to experiment with bubble gum ice cream or exotic fruit are bolder. They also appreciate unusual colors, e.g. intense green or blue (the famous smurf ice cream).
