Tooth irrigatoris a modern tool for oral hygiene. It precisely cleans teeth, removes plaque, but most of all the interdental spaces, i.e. those places that are most difficult to reach with a toothbrush.

Sometimes, in order to clean our teeth well, in addition to the manual toothbrush, electric toothbrush, sonic toothbrush, we use dental floss, punches and toothpicks.

Tooth irrigator successfully replaces these "analog" devices. Additionally, by working with the irrigator, we massage the gums, thanks to which they become better supplied with blood, stronger and he althier.

Tooth irrigator - how does it work?

Tooth irrigator is a type of pressure washer - anyone who has ever used one, even in a car wash, knows more or less what the principle of its operation is.

Water, a mixture of water and compressed air, or a special tooth cleaning fluid is released through a narrow dispenser under pressure (even 8 bar). It depends on us how strong this stream will be - we can regulate it. Do not worry - the pressure is strong enough to effectively fulfill its task, and at the same time gentle enough that it will not damage, for example, sensitive gums.

The tip of the irrigator is oblong so that you can easily reach hard to reach places. It is a bit like the device the dentist uses to dry his teeth. There are also bristle tips available, such as a cross between an irrigator and a toothbrush.

Worth knowing

For regular, everyday dental care, water alone is enough, preferably filtered (water straight from the tap promotes the formation of calculus in the irrigator). Some, however, should reach for a specialized preparation. Fluids are availablecombating dry mouth, intensely moisturizing.

You can buy a preparation intended for diabetics, which makes minor wounds in the mouth heal faster. People who have recently had an implant implanted or who have undergone other treatments within the oral cavity should also reach for a specialized product.

Tooth irrigator - how to use?

Before starting the procedure, remove any food debris from the spaces between the teeth with dental floss.

Pour water or liquid into the irrigator cup as desired. Make sure it is not too cold, as cleaning may be unpleasant.

Select the correct ending and start.

The stream should be directed perpendicularly to the teeth surface, which is not so simple when it comes to those located further away, so it requires a bit of practice. Also remember not to touch the toothbrush or gums with the nozzle.

If you have tooth pockets - be careful. Use a suitable attachment that will gently remove food particles and any bacteria, but will not strain this sensitive area (the overall stream may be too strong). Hold it at a 45 degree angle.

If you have an orthodontic appliance - irrigation should take longer. Thoroughly clean locks and other hard-to-reach places - you can also use the dedicated tip.

After irrigation, rinse out the water / fluid container. Do not leave residues at the bottom, it promotes the multiplication of bacteria and scale build-up.

Irrigation can be performed as often as conventional tooth brushing - e.g. twice a day. The duration of the procedure should take about 2-3 minutes.

Remember: irrigator tips, just like toothbrushes, also need to be replaced - every few months.

Tooth irrigator - for whom?

Irrigators can be used by people with normal, but also very tightly placed teeth, owners of dental implants and those who wear fixed orthodontic appliances - the device easily cleans the area where the braces are attached or come in contact with the teeth.

Some irrigators have tips for cleaning tooth pockets and people who have a problem with them will surely fall in love with the irrigator! Tooth irrigator is suitable for everyone who wants to have he althy and strong teeth and a beautiful smile. It prevents tooth decay and is simply irreplaceable when it comes to maintaining proper oral hygiene.
