VOGAhas hit fitness clubs in the USA and Europe. This innovative training combines the advantages of yoga and dance, not only has a positive effect on the body, but also looks attractive. Participants of the classes smoothly and dynamically assume yoga poses, taking turns with making vogue-style dance figures. The choreography looks very stylish and sensual, so women can learn how to show off their femininity in dance.
VOGA - how was it created?
The base for Voga is the so-called voguing - a dance style that originated in the 1980s in the USA on the streets of Harlem. Homosexual African Americans and Latin Americans who live in the district invented a dance that strongly emphasized body movements, recalling the poses of models at photo shoots. A few years later, voguing became popular around the world thanks to Madonna and her music video for the songVogue . The singer and the participating dancers perform quick, graceful movements of their hands, move their hips sensually and freeze from time to time in elegant poses like statues. This dance style inspired American yoga instructor Juliet Murrell to create her training program - Vogi.
VOGA - what is it?
Vogi classes consist in performing exercises shown by the instructor, and then putting them together to form a dance choreography. Figures from the vogue dance are intertwined with the asanas typical of yoga. In the background, music from the 80s by artists such as Madonna, Prince and Janet Jackson plays. In training, it is very important to follow the instructor carefully and to skillfully synchronize body movements with breathing. Proper breathing helps you stretch and allows you to distribute your strength better. In addition, the work of deep muscles is important, as they help to stabilize the figure - Voga requires a well-developed sense of balance.
VOGA - benefits for the body and mind
The creator of Voga argues that this training program can do more than yoga or dance alone. The combination of the two yesremote ways of working on the body in a very comprehensive way develops the body and mind.
- yoga : strengthens, tones and relaxes the body,
- dance : improves agility, flexibility, increases motor coordination and burns calories,
- music : puts you in a good mood, gives you energy and stimulates the senses,
- breath : relaxes, calms, increases body awareness.

Voga - for whom?
Voga is perfect for those women who like yoga and appreciate its relaxing properties, but at the same time would like to increase the pace of exercise and diversify it. It is also a good complementary training for people who go to the gym on a daily basis or practice other strength disciplines, which means they lack stretching and are in poor condition.
It should be remembered, however, that practicing asanas at a fast pace, as is the case with Vogi training, requires some experience. You have to skillfully synchronize your breathing with body movements. Before signing up for a Vogi class, it's a good idea to take a few yoga lessons with an instructor.
