I go on vacation and whenever I go anywhere I get cold sores. Once at the seaside I had a very, very large one (she even jumped out on my forehead). I wanted a consultation on Heviran. I am leaving for the seaside on August 4, should I start taking heviran or just before leaving? In what doses?
Recurrent herpes is a huge therapeutic problem. Chronic maintenance therapy with Heviran (the drug should be used under medical supervision) usually gives good results. In the active phase of the disease, a dose of 5x400 mg is used, and then 2x800 mg for many weeks. Of course, with each starting herpes it is worth using a topical acyclovir preparation, e.g. Vratizolin, Zovirax. You should also check if recurrent herpes is not a symptom of weakened immunity and consider a therapy that strengthens the immune system, of course under medical supervision. The use of new generation antiviral drugs such as valaciclovir, famciclovir, penciclovir is also to be considered.
