Cleaningat home must be regular. You have to vacuum often, even every day - dust mites live in it, there are also other pollutants in it that could worsen the well-being of an allergy sufferer, especially in case of inhalation allergy, e.g. dust allergy.

The problem is that the allergy sufferer can be harmed not only by dust or other inhalation allergens that settle on the walls or furniture, but even the cleaning itself, during which not only allergens from the floor and furniture are floating in the air, but also particles of cleaning agents that can also cause allergies.

Therefore, for the time of cleaning, the allergy sufferer should leave the house or move to a room that is not being cleaned at the moment. But when it is impossible, or when the allergy has to clean, it is worth cleaning so as not to provoke or exacerbate allergy symptoms. You should also choose he althy cleaning agents that are safe for allergy sufferers.

Cleaning at home for allergy sufferers: cleaning windows

Allergy sufferers usually do not hang curtains or curtains on their windows because they accumulate dust. The windows are covered with blinds or shutters. Dust settles on them as well, but it is easier to remove.

It is best to use special brushes for cleaning blinds and blinds. In order not to raise clouds of dust, spray the roller shutters or blinds with an anti-static liquid before cleaning. It can be the same as used for spraying tights to prevent the dress from sticking to them. In case of allergy symptoms, the roller shutters or blinds can also be sprayed with clean water and then carefully collected dust.

What to clean windows with? The outer ones can be easily washed off with water alone, because they are usually soiled with street dust and sand particles. Worse with it from the inside. Herenot only dust is deposited, but also greasy fumes from cooking. But it will also succumb to liquids with the addition of vinegar, which in a small concentration is not harmful to the respiratory tract.

To avoid smudges and stains, wipe the outer panes from top to bottom, and the inner panes the other way around. The same agents can be used for cleaning window frames, cleaning mirrors, glass windows and large glass panes. Wipe the cleaned surfaces with a disposable towel. Regular rags are a hotbed of dust.

Masks and gloves

Before starting general cleaning, a dust allergy sufferer should prepare a mask covering his nose and mouth. You can buy it at a pharmacy or make it, for example, from a piece of cotton. You also need to remember about gloves. The best ones will be vinyl ones, because they do not cause allergic reactions (unlike, for example, latex ones). If we do not have such gloves, ordinary rubber gloves can be used, but worn over cotton ones.

It is worth using microfiber cloths for cleaning - they have very fine fibers, thanks to which they collect more dust than traditional ones, and when using them you do not need to use any chemical detergents, just water.

Cleaning at home for allergy sufferers: vacuuming furniture and knick-knacks

With wooden furniture it is not enough to wipe off the dust. They also need to be cleaned of dirt. Allergy sufferers should use wiped cloths for this purpose. After such treatment, the furniture will not only be clean, but will also gain a shine. Likewise, you can clean picture frames. After such protection, dust will settle slower on furniture and frames.

To restore the porcelain shine, wash it in cold water with lemon juice (one per liter of water). Avoid detergents, because they can damage decorations and sensitize you. The crystals are washed in hot soapy water and rinsed in cold vinegar, then wiped and polished with a soft cloth or disposable towel.

The sediment from the bottom of the crystal vase can be removed by pouring warm spirit vinegar to the bottom. After a few hours, rinse the vase, wipe it and polish it. It is important to always wear protective gloves during such work.

Cleaning at home for allergy sufferers: cleaning and vacuuming the floor

Panels or varnished floors should be wiped with a mop soaked in water and an appropriate preservative. On the other hand, carpets ( although there should be as few allergy sufferers as possible at home) are better to shake in the air than to vacuum at home. If this is not possible, the carpet should be wiped with a damp sponge before vacuuming. It is also a good idea to steam clean the floor, e.g. with a steam mop.

This device uses generated steamafter pouring water into a special container (no need to use detergents). In this way, it removes impurities, including dust mites, and as much as 99.9 percent. bacteria. However, the steam mop is not suitable for every surface, which is worth checking before buying such a device.

What vacuum cleaner for allergy sufferers?

An ordinary vacuum cleaner is not suitable for cleaning allergy sufferers at home - as a rule, such vacuum cleaners blow out some of the collected dust together with microscopic allergens. Bagless vacuum cleaners are also not suitable for allergy sufferers, and they must be cleaned after each use. It's best to buy a vacuum cleaner with an appropriate HEPA filter that retains up to 99 percent. impurities, including the most microscopic. It should be replaced regularly. It's good if the vacuum cleaner bags are made of cloth, not paper: cloth bags, especially multi-layer ones, are often covered with antibacterial substances and provide a much higher level of filtration than paper bags.

Cleaning at home for allergy sufferers: cleaning the kitchen

A big problem is greasy dust on lamps, tiles and cabinets. But you can also deal with it. For people suffering from inhalation allergies, we recommend microfiber cloths that do not require the use of detergents. It is enough to moisten such a cloth with water, because microfiber fibers (100 times thinner than a hair) remove even old dirt and dried-up stains. An additional advantage of modern cloths is that they do not leave streaks.

The most difficult, however, is to thoroughly clean the gas and microwave oven. The products available in stores are effective, but we do not recommend them, because they are caustic and their vapors can even be poisoned. Better to use a very simple and proven method. Put the vessel with water in the oven or microwave, turn it on and wait for the water to boil. The grease that sticks to the walls will soften and can be easily removed with a regular cloth.

Kitchen tiles will regain freshness if we wipe them with a glass cleaner. The sprayer, which the bottle is usually equipped with, allows you to apply a minimum amount of liquid to the wall. After wiping with a paper towel, the glaze will be as good as new.

Cleaning at home for allergy sufferers: cleaning the bathroom

Cleaning the bathroom is not easy: due to moisture and sanitation, the bathroom can harbor bacteria, viruses and fungi. To get rid of them effectively, you should use slightly stronger agents, preferably those containing sodium hypochlorite, which kills microorganisms, removes scale and soapy sediment from fittings and sanitary devices.

Most cleaning products are relatively safe for allergy sufferers, but even sofor this, when cleaning the bathroom, it is necessary to wear a mask and gloves.

Keeping the toilet perfectly clean is not easy, mainly because of the iron water. When we have such water, rusty streaks form in the recesses of the shell.

In order to prevent their formation, we put a special toilet cube in the shell, which will protect it against sediment, and with each flushing it will additionally disinfect the toilet.
