I wanted to donate blood for the operation of a loved one but the doctor rejected my candidacy. I realized that my morphology was not the best. I wonder how I can increase the number of red blood cells and what drugs can promote it? Is the hemoglobin level below normal, around 11 thousand. is dangerous? Urszula from Krakow
The data presented by you shows that the reason for not qualifying for blood donation was a slightly increased number of white blood cells, and not too low number of red blood cells. Several parameters are measured in blood count - among them red blood cells (called erythrocytes) - their number is measured in millions - and white blood cells (called leukocytes) - their number is measured in thousands. The normal number of white blood cells is between 4,000 and 8,000. A candidate for a blood donor should be he althy and have a normal blood count. As you have been diagnosed with an abnormal white blood cell count, it is advisable to repeat the test after some time (2 - 4 weeks from the previous test).
