My family doctor found a murmur over the aorta and pulmonary artery and referred me to a cardiologist. A year ago, a similar situation took place, but I did not receive a referral. Please let me know if this is something serious? Can I wait for a free visit (dates are distant) or quickly seek help in a private clinic?

A heart murmur may indicate an existing heart defect. If there was a murmur a year ago and it is present now, and your well-being has not worsened, there is no need for an immediate visit. However, an echo of the heart should be done and the result presented to a cardiologist.
