Kehrer's syndrome, or widow's disease, is a sexual disorder that is rarely talked about. Perhaps because it is a disease that only affects women, and one who is not sexually gratified for a long time and is rarely able to admit that they suffer from it. What is Kehrer's syndrome and how to deal with it?
Kehrer's syndromehas two other names -widow's diseaseandfive symptom disease . This is a sexual dysfunction that is rooted in sexual dysfunction.
Kehrer's syndrome - what is widow's disease?
This disease is very specific because it affects only sexually unsatisfied women. As a result, it is kind of a taboo subject, so it is rarely spoken of.
The sexual needs of women almost always take a back seat, many women do not achieve orgasm despite regular intercourse - often even fake it.
Men find it hard to accept that women also have problems with sexual satisfaction. Even women are often unaware that such dysfunction can lead to painful gynecological symptoms.
Characteristic of women with widow's disease is quite normal libido, which the woman's partner does not satisfy (for various reasons). The disease has nothing to do with, for example, nymphomania.
You have to know that the need for sexual fulfillment is as important in life as many other needs, e.g. food. When a disturbance occurs and this need is not satisfied, disorders occur, and the lack of sexual satisfaction not only affects the psyche of a woman badly, but if left untreated, it can cause a number of painful symptoms that usually accompany gynecological ailments.
Kehrer syndrome - causes
The disease mainly affects young women who are just starting their sex life - more often those who do not have a partner. However, these disorders may also occur in mature women. The name widow's disease means that it is also a common complaint of widows - in this case - women who feel the loss of a sexual partner.
The most common reasons for the occurrence of problems with sexual satisfaction in a woman are:
- Differences in sexual temperaments. If the partners' needs are different andat very different levels, a woman's risk of developing the disease increases.
- Sexual dysfunction in the partnerthat does not allow a woman to be fully satisfied. These can include spine injuries, erection problems, cardiovascular diseases, etc.
- Long-term lack of orgasm in a woman.Difficulties with reaching orgasm prevent sexual tension from being released, which in the long term may be the basis of disorders.
- Lack / absence of a partner.Unfulfilled sexual needs may result, for example, from loss of a partner (death, breakup), partner's departure for a long time (e.g. to work).
- Conflict between partners. If it lasts long, it usually means no sex, and a partnership relationship is very important to a successful sex life - especially for women.
Kehrer's syndrome - 5 symptoms of widow's disease
There is a reason why Kehrer's syndrome is also called the five symptom disease. There are exactly five symptoms that are part of somatic ailments. These are physically felt ailments in the pelvic area.
First, however, in disease we deal with symptoms related to the psyche. The woman becomes more nervous, irritable, agitated, and can be very quarrelsome and aggressive. We can say that it is a more intense form of PMS that prevents a woman from functioning normally. Following these symptoms, the disease enters a second decisive phase which is characterized by symptoms of a physical nature in the pelvic organs.
The symptoms of the second phase of Kehrer's syndrome are:
- Pains in the lower abdomen and sacrum - can be confusing, because it is also a symptom of gynecological ailments. However, the occurrence of this symptom as one of many widows' diseases gives grounds not to treat it as a common gynecological ailment.
- Varicose veins, incl. varicose veins of the small pelvis, varicose veins of the vulva, varicose veins of the anus (hemorrhoids) or even those located on the lower legs.
- Swollen uterus and menstrual disorders - the swelling of the uterus and its thickening result in a loss of comfort during intercourse. In addition, there is a disappearance of cervical mucus. Your menstrual cycles can become very irregular.
- Itching and hyperalgesia around the vagina and small pelvis - vaginal discharge may also occur. Sometimes women find itching and tenderness of the vulva to be signs of inflammation and heal for it, even though the underlying cause lies elsewhere.
- Soreness and thickening of the sacro-uterine ligaments.
Kehrer's syndrome - treatment
Symptoms of widow's disease may remainneutralized when the woman starts to be satisfied with intercourse again. In each case something else helps. For some women, it is enough to eliminate the cause of the disease, i.e. the return of the partner after a long separation, the man's understanding of women's needs, finding a new partner, more frequent sexual intercourse.

A great support may be a visit to a sexologist who will give a woman and a man an appropriate therapy that will improve their sex life. The essence of therapy is to make partners aware of how important their sexual needs are and how they should be met.
For women in relationships and widows, the hardest thing is to start a new relationship that would give them a chance to fully heal. It is often the case that a new relationship brings the complete disappearance of the symptoms of the disease.
Unfortunately, sometimes the psychological barrier (resistance to betrayal, strong feelings towards the previous partner, sense of fidelity) prevents a woman from choosing this solution. Then, masturbation may be a good way to fight Kehrer's syndrome. Unfortunately, also in this case, sometimes the female resistance is too great, e.g. caused by religion.
When it is not possible to improve a woman's sexual comfort in a natural way, pharmacological treatment remains. It is based on the patient taking drugs that weaken the sex drive.
