In the calendars of triathlon events in Poland you will find dozens of competition dates all over the country. Which ones are the most popular among competitors and which old ones should not be missed? Check if you know the names of all major triathlon events.
The first triathlon competition in Poland took place in 1984 in Kiekrz near Poznań, when 134 men and 3 women stood at the start. Today, thousands of professionals and amateurs sign up for some of the events. Here is a list of the most important triathlon events in the country:
Dried Triathlon
This is the most popular triathlon competition in Poland. They have been held since 1992, and thanks to the participation of international sports stars, Susz became the Polish capital of the triathlon. The competition in Susz takes place on the distance of 1/2 Ironman: 1.9 km of swimming / 90 km of cycling / 21.1 km of running and sprinting: 0.75 km of swimming / 20 km of cycling / 5 km of run.
Gdynia Triathlon
One of the most prestigious triathlon competitions in the country. They gather not only sports stars, but also celebrities. The organizers called 2014 the year of women in the triathlon, and the ambassadors of the competition will be Małgorzata Foremniak, Katarzyna Glinka, Karolina Gorczyca and Agnieszka Sikora-Paw. The competitions in Gdynia are held at the following distances: 1/2 Ironman: 1.9 km of swimming / 90 km of cycling / 21.1 km of running and sprinting: 0.75 km of swimming / 20 km of cycling / 5 km of run).
Triathlon Poznań
In 2014, the triathlon in Poznań will be held for the 15th time! This is one of the most important and most popular triathlon competitions in Poland.
Tri Tour
A series of triathlon competitions combined with a common general classification. The competitions are independent and at each event the competitors receive separate starting packages. What they have in common is Tri Tour. To be in this ranking, it is enough to take part in at least three competitions. The aim of the classification is to cheer the competitors throughout the triathlon season and the general conference summarizing the triathlonists' achievements in October.
Triathlon Malbork
The event has been present on the map of Polish triathlon competitions for over a dozen years. It is so popular that the lists of participants are closed many months before the competition starts.
Iron Garmin Triathlon
The largest series of triathlon competitions on the ¼ Ironman distance (0.95 km of swimming / 45 km of cycling in the formula without drafting / 10.55 km of run). The events take place in 4 different locations, and the end time of the event is added together with the other 3 competitions in the series, so that a ranking of the best players will be formed. The sum of the times gives the potential result that the full Ironman riders would achieve. In 2014, the 1/4 Ironman Polish Amateur Championship will be held for the first time in the competition series.
Volvo Triathlon Series
A series of triathlon competitions sponsored by a famous car brand. This is a relatively young competition, but it is already very popular among competitors. Volvo Triathlon Series are run over distances 1/2, 1/4 and 1/8 Ironman.
