I did liver tests and I have elevated bilirubin 2.19 after taking essentionale forte 1.7 and it is still at this level, the rest of the tests are normal. I have constant burping and rumbling symptoms - no matter what I eat the biggest with fatty meals. My grandmother had liver cancer. Am I at risk? Do I have to take any medications?

Your elevated bilirubin level is most likely the result of congenital hyperbilirubinemia, i.e. Gilbert's syndrome. There is a genetic defect in the metabolism of bilirubin which is practically harmless. Its only symptom is always elevated bilirubin levels. In situations of stress, disease, this level increases even more, and after recovery, it drops again, but never to normal, i.e. below 1.3 mg%. On the other hand, your described gastric problems are most likely caused by disorders of the gastrointestinal motility. I advise you to visit a gastroenterologist. On the other hand, when it comes to genetic burdens, grandma can incriminate us and therefore you are at risk.
