Ski helmets - the latest models are to not only ensure safety, but also increase the comfort of riding and look fashionable. The prices of ski helmets range from PLN 100 to PLN 1000, but even among the cheaper models you can find those that meet the basic requirements for recreational riding. ModernSki helmetshave a number of functions: they primarily protect the head from breaking, but also insulate against cold and wind, provide optimal ventilation and are a fashionable addition to the ski outfit. More and more often they are equipped with modern systems increasing the comfort of driving - for example, their interior is made of soft, yet plastic materials that adapt to the shape of the head and take a permanent form after several uses. Some models have the possibility of adjusting the ventilation openings - thanks to this, the helmet can be worn both in the winter and spring-summer season without the risk of overheating.
Ski helmets - what features should you pay attention to?
A ski helmet should be selected depending on your skill level, age and gender. It also matters how much money we can spend on a helmet. In each of these cases, it is worth paying attention to slightly different product features.
Beginners and intermediate users can find a good quality helmet for PLN 100-200. It is important that it meets the following requirements:
- was durable (preferably made of ABS, in mold or hardshell technology);
- has vents;
- has a soft lining (good if it has the ability to wick moisture and is breathable);
- was equipped with a comfortable, non-compressive fastening under the chin.
Advanced skiers who ski several times a year should invest in a more expensive helmet. It is worth having such features as:
- additional reinforcements increasing the strength of the shell in the event of an impact (e.g. Edge Protect technology protecting against side impact);
- low weight - during long hours of riding, the weight of the helmet is more difficult;
- possibility to adjust the size of the holesventilation - thanks to this, the helmet is suitable for driving in the winter and spring-summer season;
- additional amenities, e.g. lining with a special membrane that does not interfere with the perception of sounds from the environment.
In recent years, helmets with built-in goggles have become more and more popular. They are more convenient to use because you do not need to adjust the glasses separately. Their disadvantage, however, is the high price - helmets with goggles from reputable companies cost from PLN 500 upwards.
