Cycling to work as well as regular shorter or longer bike trips is not only a matter of fashion for a he althy lifestyle. First of all, it saves a lot of costs and time, especially in crowded cities, but also improves your own well-being.

The city bike is used primarily for everyday commuting, and occasionally for short trips outside the city. At first glance, it does not really matter whether it will be an old, several-year-old vehicle pulled from the attic or a modern one, built in accordance with current trends. It is to be comfortable, easy to use and functional.

However, it is worth investing in your own comfort and safety. It's good if a two-wheeler has a luggage rack mounted, which makes it more comfortable to travel with a backpack or bag. A suitable city bike should also have a fender, because we also use it in autumn and winter, as well as a comfortable saddle.

All because when commuting to work, we use casual clothes instead of professional sports clothes. Before choosing a city bike, it is worth defining its use. A lot will depend on what the route on which we will mainly travel looks like.

Tourist bike and city bike

Many universal touring bikes look a lot like city bikes. In principle, a city bike should be used for driving at a leisurely pace and on flat terrain. All this means that models with gears built inside the rear hub do not offer such a wide range of available gears as touring bikes with an external derailleur. The gears used in city bikes are very durable, they are difficult to damage. Precisely because they do not protrude beyond the outline of the bicycle.

A typical city bike also has a special design and geometry. Most often, its frame is led low, and the steering wheel is bent, thanks to which we can take an upright position. This allows you to comfortably ride short journeys in everyday clothes. However, it is worth remembering that an upright position makes it difficult to overcome steep descents and climbs. In this case, a universal touring bike will work better. Differences in the way vehicles are used have made itmanufacturers offer more and more models in the urban segment - says Jakub Pasikowski, expert of the Le Grand brand.

Improve your fitness

One cannot forget about the dynamically developing segment of electric bicycles. Thanks to the batteries and the appropriate drive, they provide support for city driving. But urban ones are not only those with a characteristically curved frame. It is also the urban segment, i.e. bikes designed for fast driving in the city. To put it simply, urban is a road model with a straight handlebars.

Some people also refer to them as fitness bikes. All because they have excellent driving characteristics and are very practical. The category combines comfortable geometry with dynamics and speed, and the ride itself effectively improves the condition.

A touring bike, on the other hand, is much more effective at coping with uneven surfaces. Although it has a geometry that is slightly different from that used in typical urban areas, its equipment increases the possibilities of driving on hills. It also often has fenders and a rack.

It's best in the store

Both typical "tourism" and urban ones have their advantages and ensure comfort and driving pleasure. The most important thing, however, is to adjust the size of the frame correctly. The bike cannot be too small or too big. Hence, the best place to buy a vehicle is definitely a specialized store, where experts will tell you how to choose the size of our new companion on everyday journeys.
