Since its inception, the Foundation for Help for Children has been helping everyone who came into contact with children suffering from cancer. He teaches his charges and their parents how to cope with stress and isolation caused by the disease.
The Foundationrepresents its charges in contacts with the he alth service, decision-makers of institutions and organizations that have an impact on helping and solving problems arising fromcancer uchildren . It organizes training for medical staff and deals with the organization and work of volunteering. It runs personal sub-accounts for children, on which parents collect money for treatment.At its headquarters in Warsaw, the Foundation runs a center with accommodation, psychological and therapeutic care, as well as rehabilitation and recreational facilities. The resort is open all days of the year. The Foundation organizes artistic activities, games, birthday and occasional games, as well as rehabilitation and holiday camps.
During the sixteen years of its activity, the Foundation has carried out many social campaigns. In 2002, she organized a visit to Poland by oncologists from New York. The Foundation constantly runs training programs for nurses from pediatric and oncology departments. She also initiated training for primary care physicians. The Foundation cooperates with the Institute of Mother and Child, Children's He alth Center and Warsaw oncology clinics.
The Foundation implements the "Leaders" project, which brings together people with a history of cancer. They share their experiences with the pupils and conduct meetings with schoolchildren, sharing their knowledge about the disease. Recently, the book "abc we had cancer …" was published by the Foundation from the memoirs written down by members of the group. The publication is a great help for everyone who looks after children with cancer: doctors, families, carers and volunteers.
